Lead Producer
Demiurge Studios is seeking an experienced lead producer for our newest project - an open world action RPG, targeting PC and console platforms. The team has just finished pre-production, so this is a great time to join and make a big splash! You will be an integral part of the team’s leadership, working closely with the Executive Producer. Production leads are accountable for development execution, including development strategy, project planning, and risk management.
In this role, you will proactively work to identify and remove any obstacles to success. Your mission is to enable the dev team to do their best work. You have many tools in your toolbox, and know how to customize them, adapting to new and complex challenges. You are as comfortable leading from the front as you are acting as a support behind the scenes. You navigate easily between strategic and operational work, and use that skill to keep the team aligned and motivated.
As most of the project’s leadership is local to the Boston area, we have a strong preference for candidates who are also in the area, and occasionally able to work from the office. At a minimum, any candidate must be able to work on Eastern Time.
If you are driven by collaboration, creativity, and leading teams to do their best work, this might be the role for you!
Responsibilities
Responsible for the overall delivery of the project
Accountable for production outcomes and for ensuring everyone involved is held accountable to their commitments, including leadership
Collaborate with the EP and discipline leads to define the development strategy and methodology
Maintain strong connections with internal and external stakeholders, sharing progress, setting expectations, and resolving any issues that arise
Build, validate, and maintain a clear development plan, including dependencies, milestones, and deliverables
Proactively identify and manage project risks - in technology, timeline, staffing, and general team health
Lead the team’s production staff on a day-to-day basis, ensuring they have clear goals and objectives and are leading their groups effectively
Evaluate scope, time to market, and quality trade offs. Recommend and advocate for a course of action with project stakeholders
Track and manage the overall project budget
Evaluate and manage co-development partners
Qualifications
10+ years experience working in the game industry, including time as Lead Producer or Development Director
Experience working in a leadership role through each phase of the game product life cycle (e.g. prototype, pre-production, production, launch, and live operations)
Experience working closely with a broad range of disciplines, including both technical and creative teams, throughout the development cycle.
Experience leading cohesive, creative teams ranging in size from 10 to 60 people
Demonstrated ability to create aligned project roadmaps and timelines, and to adapt them to each phase of development.
Proficiency in driving process change under a variety of agile and fixed-time development processes
Demonstrated ability to deliver high-quality products under budget, time & resource constraints
History of successfully working with external stakeholders and navigating client and vendor relationships
Ability to lead distributed teams, including a mix of internal developers, co-development partners, and outsourcing.
Excellent written and verbal communications skills, including motivation, mentoring, and conflict resolution
Experience developing (and playing!) 3D action games, especially open-world RPGs
$123,000 - $172,000 a year
