About You

We are looking for an experienced Lead Flutter Developer for our mobile app development team. This role will report to the Vice President of Engineering and manage one or more contract developers. This role will support go live for our public release for iOS and Android devices, ongoing development, along with support and maintenance.  The ideal candidate possesses both a breadth and depth of knowledge for full software development lifecycle, coding standards, code reviews, and testing. Responsibilities:

• Lead mobile app development through launch, in partnership with business partners, product team and the rest of the mobile app development team

• Collaborate closely with backend, front end, and product teams to build the mobile app, ensuring the proper level of unit tests are written by the dev team

• Work with project and product teams to help plan sprints, do retrospectives, and strategize on the technical roadmap

• Own the development and deployment of the app to production

• Work closely with our vendor to understand architecture/design and transition app development in house over time

• Review vendor code, ensure sound development principles, processes, tools and workflows have been applied and high quality, readable and maintainable code has been written

• Identifying and resolving software defects, including working with vendor as needed to apply fixes and improvements toward a better quality code and ensure a seamless transition to our team

• Document application architecture and design 

• Provide post launch and ongoing support, including owning the apple and google enterprise testing and production submission, approval and publishing processes

• Ensure sound development practices and guidelines are defined and followed by the team, resulting in quality & maintainable code

• Ensure applications are compatible with multiple platforms

• Share feedback and brainstorming ideas with teams to improve the development process

Requirements:

• 4+ years commercial experience in building mobile applications using Flutter

• Experience writing high-quality code using Flutter, Dart, Javascript and other modern tools

• Advanced experience in building UI (Flutter Widgets/Layout) & Dart programming

• Contribution to at least one app in the Google PlayStore and AppStore

• Strong technical skills to guide team members in architecture, design, and implementation tradeoffs

• Solid understanding and experience working with back-end services.

• Effective experience in writing unit and integration tests, debugging techniques for iOS and/or Android, and source control systems such a git/bitbucket

• Proven track record of shipping software to production within an agile development environment

• Strong commitment to quality & detail, with dedication to clean, performant, and maintainable code

• Ability to think analytically and to deliver creative solutions to business-critical requirements

• Ability to collaborate effectively with both internal and external teams

• Demonstrated ability to thoroughly investigate issues, document, and propose solutions with a bias toward timely, effective results

• Experience working with Agile scrum methodologies

Preferred: 

• Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Computer Science or related field

• Experience with Firebase, App CI/CD, PWA (Progressive Web Apps)

• Desire to learn new technologies beyond Flutter Development (ex., iOS, Android, BLE ,etc.)
