Role Summary

Our mission at HubSpot is to help millions of organizations grow better. As a Lead Graphic Designer on the Marketing team, you’ll play a critical role in shaping how that mission comes to life visually across our global brand. You’ll set creative direction for high-impact marketing work, translate ambiguity into clarity, and ensure our design output is consistently bold, cohesive, and human. This is a senior individual contributor role for a designer who leads through craft, taste, and influence.

Team Overview You’ll join a collaborative Marketing Creative team that brings ideas to life across brand, product, and growth campaigns. Working closely with writers, coders, videographers, marketers, and product partners, you’ll help set visual direction, raise the bar on craft, and deliver work that’s cohesive, inclusive, and built to perform.

What You’ll Do

  • Own and define visual direction for integrated marketing campaigns, creating “north star” concepts that guide execution across teams.

  • Translate ambiguous goals and early-stage ideas into clear creative direction by shaping briefs, scoping work, and defining what success looks like before execution begins.

  • Serve as a creative authority and trusted partner to Marketing stakeholders, clearly articulating design rationale, tradeoffs, and risk/reward decisions.

  • Work side-by-side with Copywriters, Product Managers, Marketers, and other partners to ensure design is integrated early in the project lifecycle.

  • Act as a brand guardian by setting up, upholding, and educating partners on design standards that ensure consistency, accessibility, and quality across channels.

  • Lead by example through hands-on design work on complex, high-visibility initiatives.

  • Provide thoughtful, actionable critique and mentorship that elevates the craft of designers and turns strong work into exceptional work.

  • Prioritize work based on impact, proactively manage scope, and communicate trade-offs when constraints require focus.

  • Partner with Project Managers to scope complex initiatives, identify risks or bottlenecks, and ensure teams hit deadlines without sacrificing quality.

  • Move beyond individual assets to build and evolve scalable design libraries, brand guidelines, and visual systems that empower others to move fast.

  • Use performance insights, experimentation, and iteration to continuously evolve visual approaches and creative impact.

  • Explore emerging design, marketing, and AI-powered creative tools—and how they can responsibly scale impact.

What You’ll Bring

Required Qualifications

  • 7+ years of professional graphic or visual design experience, with demonstrated leadership through craft.

  • A portfolio showing strong conceptual thinking, visual systems, and end-to-end campaign work.

  • Proven ability to set creative direction and guide work across a body of design, not just execute briefs.

  • Deep fluency in design tools such as Figma and Adobe Creative Suite.

  • Strong communication skills and confidence in presenting and defending creative decisions to senior stakeholders

  • Strong understanding of design principles, layout, and best practices across digital, UI/ UX, print, and a desire to continually strengthen that understanding.

  • Excellent typography skills and an extreme attention to detail.

  • Enthusiastic about AI-powered creative tools, keeps a finger on the pulse of design and marketing trends, and thinks about how to scale impact.

  • Experience working within and evolving a global brand system.

  • Demonstrated ability to give clear, constructive feedback that helps other designers grow.

  • Experience breaking down complex projects into scoped deliverables, managing timelines, and holding yourself and partners accountable to quality and deadlines.

Nice-to-Have Qualifications

  • Experience in B2B/SaaS, high-growth companies, or environments that prioritize exceptional craft - whether that's design agencies, brand studios, or design-led organizations.

  • Comfort with motion, video, illustration, or interactive design.

  • Experience collaborating with developers and technical teams to ensure designs are built with quality and fidelity.
