Lead Full-Stack Developer (NextJS/Expo)

About the Role:

We are seeking a highly proactive, organized, and technically strong Lead Full-Stack Developer. You will be responsible for leading the development of scalable web and mobile applications using NextJS, Expo, and related technologies. This role involves architecting backend and frontend solutions, mentoring developers, managing project timelines, and directly engaging with clients to shape product direction and ensure delivery excellence.

Core Tasks:

• Lead full-stack development of web and mobile applications using NextJS, Expo, and related technologies.

• Architect scalable solutions, ensuring maintainable, high-quality code.

• Collaborate directly with clients, helping shape product direction and making key technical recommendations.

• Own delivery timelines, ensuring tasks are clearly defined, tracked, and met without chaos or surprises.

• Mentor and guide other developers, fostering a culture of excellence, organization, and proactivity.

• Communicate updates frequently, over-communicating progress, risks, and next steps to both clients and the team.

• Drive company success, caring deeply about the outcomes for Mountain Dev and our clients businesses, not just code shipped.

Must-Haves:

• Location: Based in Latin America, fluent in English (written and spoken).

• Availability: Full-time (40 hrs/week), remote, long-term commitment.

• Experience: 5+ years building full-stack applications with React/NextJS, Node.js, and TypeScript.

• Mobile Development: Hands-on experience with Expo / React Native, delivering production-grade mobile apps.

• Web Development: 5+ years managing production web apps. Proven track record in responsive, performant, and scalable web app development, including REST APIs and database design.

• Backend Management: Strong experience in designing and managing server-side architectures, APIs, and database integrations.

• AWS Expertise: Practical experience deploying, configuring, and managing applications on AWS services (e.g., Lambda, ECS, RDS, S3, CloudFront).

• Leadership: Proven ability to lead a development team, mentor other engineers, and guide architecture decisions.

• Client Communication: Comfortable leading client calls, gathering requirements, and providing technical direction with confidence and clarity.

• Proactivity: Demonstrated track record of taking initiative, solving problems independently, and owning outcomes.

• Organizational Skills: Strong project planning and task management skills; avoids last-minute chaos by thinking ahead.

• Collaboration: Experience working in cross-functional, remote teams, using tools like GitHub, Jira, Slack, and Loom.

• Tech Stack: Familiar with or willing to adopt our T3 Turbo approach (NextJS, tRPC, Drizzle, TailwindCSS, Expo, TypeScript).

• Advanced English communication skills (C-level or equivalent)

• Ability to work EST
