As a Sr./Lead Financial Analyst on the Expense Planning team within USRM FP&A, you will play a key role in supporting the expense planning and forecasting process for the organization. In this role, you will partner closely with the USRM Finance Function leadership team to produce budgets and other key expense metrics, develop and regularly update financial forecasts, and inform key decisions to ensure USRM is achieving overall strategic goals. Analysts in this role will have the opportunity to independently own key components of the expense planning process.
Job Responsibilities
- Supports the quarterly forecasting and annual planning process for the Finance organization and its processes (credit card fees, charge-offs), ensuring timely completion of deliverables and escalating issues for resolution
- Develops ad hoc and on-going financial forecasts and models that assist leadership in making decisions, effectively communicating trends and outcomes to management
- Partners with stakeholders to incorporate key trends and expectations into the current year forecast, proactively identifying opportunities to close gaps to expense targets and drive incremental savings
- Works closely with the Results & Insights team to understand monthly results trends and incorporate them into forward-looking forecasts
- Continually assesses the business value and efficiency of the work performed, making suggestions for improvements and collaborating with others in implementing them.
- Oversees budgeting system (Anaplan), coordinating enhancements and assisting in resolving production problems.
- Leads or actively participates in increasingly complex department projects and continuous improvement activities such as Plan Vision and the incorporation of AI into core work.
- Fosters the development of teammates by sharing expertise and experience through training or reviewing their work. May provide feedback on performance.
The Ideal Candidate:
- Has previously worked in FP&A supporting expense forecasting, planning, and analysis processes
- Is proactive in identifying trends, risks, and opportunities, including ways to close gaps to expense targets, drive incremental savings, and improve forecast accuracy. Is comfortable challenging the status quo to drive better outcomes.
- Utilizes AI in daily work and embraces emerging tools to improve efficiency, insights, and outcomes
- Works independently with stakeholders to develop forecasts, analyze trends, and communicate insights to senior leaders
- Demonstrates advanced Excel skills and utilizes Anaplan to support planning and forecasting activities
- Excels at collaboration across teams and functions, fostering productive discussions and alignment while managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Bachelor`s degree required; CPA or Advanced Degree in Accounting, Finance or Business preferred
- Minimum of 3-5 years of finance experience
- Excellent analytical, decision making and problem-solving skills with the ability to adapt to changing conditions while achieving results
- Must possess strong interpersonal skills to promote discussion while fostering collaboration within the team and with other areas of the organization
- Effectively negotiates project direction and communicates to a variety of audiences and levels of the organization to ensure alignment with project goals and schedules
- Ability to lead meetings and make presentations to increasingly larger audiences
- Attention to detail in a fast-paced work environment, and the ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects simultaneously to drive results
- Advanced Excel skills; familiarity with Anaplan and one or more BI tools (e.g. Power BI) preferred
Pay Philosophy: The typical starting salary range for this role is determined by a number of factors including skills, experience, education, certifications and location. The full salary range for this role reflects the competitive labor market value for all employees in these positions across the national market and provides an opportunity to progress as employees grow and develop within the role. Some roles at Liberty Mutual have a corresponding compensation plan which may include commission and/or bonus earnings at rates that vary based on multiple factors set forth in the compensation plan for the role.
