Job Summary:

The US Operations Junior Specialist will manage ocean freight forwarding, import customs clearance, and domestic trucking activities under the US Operations Manager’s guidance. This position coordinates daily transportation services for domestic and international shipments. The team members will operate in a rapidly expanding, high-energy, and fast-paced environment.

Job Expectations:

  • Supports Global Logistics US Operations Supervisor in managing activities with ocean freight forwarders, customs brokers, trucking companies, ground operations, warehouse operations, and Global Freight Forwarding Specialists

  • Create and maintain a strong network and relationship with freight forwarders, customs brokers, and trucking companies for assigned trade lane(s)

  • Schedules and monitors transportation-related activities, including ocean bookings, vessel schedules, and domestic pickups/deliveries daily.

  • Continuously look for opportunities that will contribute to the enhancement of Global Logistics.

  • Ensure all import documents are passed on to the customs broker in a timely manner.

  • Works with various internal and external parties while managing international export schedules

  • Ensures correct, on-time, undamaged, and low-cost shipping requirements are met for inbound and outbound shipments

  • Maintains adequate driver coverage when required for weekdays, weekends, and holidays

  • Reports any discrepancies and delays while working with various freight forwarders, freight brokers, and trucking companies to ensure on-time arrival

  • Keeping a record of trucking companies KPI

  • Develop and maintain reliable carriers for timely performance

  • Maintains knowledge of freight forwarding and domestic trucking regulations

  • Suggest and implement corrective actions accordingly as issues arise

  • Prepare accurate shipping reports for upper management daily

  • Identifies opportunities to enhance Global Logistics US Operations practices and implements consistent processes across the organization

  • Perform other tasks and projects as assigned by the Us Operations Supervisor

  • Assist in researching new lanes/routes for global expansion

  • Assist in researching new carriers, forwarders, truckers

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Required:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Proficient in software skills, including Word and Excel.

  • Ability to work with little supervision and track multiple processes.

  • Outstanding organizational and coordination abilities.

  • Detail-oriented: Attention to accuracy is vital in this role.

  • Must have a very strong sense of responsibility for completing tasks and achieving goals.

  • Ability to apply knowledge of quality, resolve practical operational problems, and deal with a variety of situations in a high-pressure environment.

  • Ability to self-motivate, work as a team player, and work in a fast-paced environment.

  • Continuous improvement.

Equipment Knowledge:

Strong computer skills, proficient with (MS Office, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

Experience with Google Business Suite (Gmail, Drive, Docs, Sheets, Forms) preferred

Experience Requirements:

Generally requires a minimum of one year or more in the logistics industry

Understanding of business processes and operational workflows

Understanding of logistics-related terminology

Bilingual abilities are a plus

Education Requirements:

A bachelor’s degree in business or a related field is preferred, or a combination of education and equivalent work experience is preferred.

Judgment/Reasoning Ability: Able to identify, troubleshoot, and resolve problems quickly using sound judgment, poise, and diplomacy. Ability to use judgment and reasoning skills and determine when to escalate issues, as required, in a timely manner.

Physical Demands:  The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by a Team Member to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.  While performing the duties of this job, the Team Member is regularly required to talk and hear. The Team Member is frequently required to sit, walk, climb stairs, use hands and fingers, bend, stoop, and reach with hands and arms. Reaching above shoulder height, below the waist, or lifting as required to file documents or store materials throughout the work day. The Team Member may occasionally lift or move office products and supplies up to 25 pounds—proper lifting techniques are required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.

Work Environment: The noise in the work environment is usually moderate. Other factors are:

  • Hectic, fast-paced, with multi-level distractions

  • Professional yet casual work environment

  • Office / Warehouse environment

  • Ability to work extended hours as required

  • Willing to work during weekends and national holidays as needed
