Apply for this position

Databento is a fast-growing startup that provides modern APIs for financial market data, making it dramatically easier for firms of all sizes to access and use market data.  As a Series A company, we’ve raised $37.8M to date and grown revenue by over 400% YoY.

We’re looking for a hands-on in-house recruiter to join us during a critical growth phase. This role is primarily focused on recruiting execution: sourcing and headhunting candidates, screening resumes, running first-round interviews, and owning the end-to-end hiring process. As a small, fast-growing team, this role offers room to grow laterally and help shape how recruiting and people operations are done at Databento.

We offer health, dental, disability, and life insurance benefits, as well as 401(k) matching for full-time employees. We accommodate 100% remote work, with teammates living around the globe and paid in their local currency.

Responsibilities

  • Own the full recruiting lifecycle for open roles, from intake and sourcing through offer coordination.

  • Proactively source and headhunt candidates outside of the inbound applicant pool (LinkedIn, referrals, targeted outreach).

  • Screen resumes and conduct first-round phone or video interviews.

  • Coordinate interview loops, scheduling, and candidate communication.

  • Maintain and improve job descriptions in collaboration with hiring managers.

  • Manage and maintain our applicant tracking system, ensuring accurate and timely updates.

  • Partner closely with founders and hiring managers to define role requirements and hiring priorities.

  • Support light people operations initiatives as a secondary responsibility, including onboarding coordination, maintaining internal documentation (e.g., employee handbook), and assisting with team culture initiatives and swag.

  • Build scalable recruiting processes and workflows.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree.

  • At least 2 years of experience in recruiting, talent acquisition, HR, or a closely related role.

  • Experience recruiting for technical roles (quant trading, software engineering, data, infrastructure, or adjacent roles).

  • Experience sourcing and engaging candidates via outbound channels (LinkedIn, referrals, cold outreach).

  • Strong screening and interviewing skills, with the ability to assess both technical fit and communication skills.

  • Experience working with applicant tracking systems and recruiting tools (e.g., Greenhouse).

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable managing multiple open roles in parallel.

  • Experience recruiting at an early-stage or high-growth startup is a plus.

  • Familiarity with HR or people operations (e.g., onboarding, internal documentation, culture initiatives) is a plus.
