GEO & SEO Strategy Director
Apply for this position → Go ad-free with PremiumGEO & SEO Strategy Director About Obility Obility is where smart B2B marketing meets action. We help high-growth tech and B2B companies scale without wasting money or time on fluff. We love data, strategy, and tools that actually work, and we're always testing the next thing that will give our clients an edge. If you like solving problems, learning fast, and getting results you can brag about, you'll feel at home here. The Role We're hiring a GEO & SEO Strategy Director to own how Obility approaches organic growth in a search landscape that now includes Google AI Overviews, ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, and Perplexity. A large share of this work happens off your client's website, in Reddit threads, on LinkedIn, on YouTube, in review sites and third-party listicles, and anywhere else buyers and language models go looking for answers. You'll need a real SEO foundation to do this job. Technical health, keyword research, content strategy, and analytics are the base layer, and we're assuming you mastered them years ago. The rest of your time goes to understanding how AI search systems retrieve and cite information, finding where clients are absent from generated answers, and doing the off-site work that gets them included. This seat comes with two jobs. The first is a portfolio of B2B clients you run yourself. The second is the GEO practice itself, meaning the methodology, the playbooks, and the standard the rest of the SEO team works to. We don't have a finished playbook for AI search, and we're not expecting to hand you one. We're hiring someone who is excited to write it. Working With Claude (Required) Claude and Claude Code are how our SEO and GEO team gets work done. You'll build and run your own workflows, and you'll build the ones your team uses too. That means writing Claude skills for recurring deliverables, scripting data pulls and audits in Claude Code, automating visibility monitoring, and prototyping internal tooling when no platform on the market does what a client needs. This is a hard requirement. In your application, be ready to describe workflows you've built and what they replaced. What You'll Do Practice Leadership Own Obility's GEO methodology and set the direction for how the agency approaches AI search Build the playbooks, frameworks, and Claude workflows that the SEO-GEO team runs day to day Mentor SEO strategists on GEO work and raise the baseline capability of the team Partner with the Director of Growth & Operations on service design, positioning, and how we differentiate Obility in the market for GEO services Help scope and price GEO work for new business, and join sales conversations where your expertise moves the deal GEO & AI Search Strategy Own AI search strategy for a portfolio of B2B clients, from research and roadmap through execution and reporting Monitor brand visibility and accuracy in AI Overviews, ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, and Perplexity, then diagnose why a client is or isn't being cited Build content designed to be retrieved and synthesized by language models as well as ranked by Google Track which sources AI systems pull from in a client's category and work to get the client into them Off-Site Presence & Brand Mentions Develop Reddit strategy: identify the subreddits that matter, understand community norms, and participate in a way that earns trust (content team supports) Optimize LinkedIn for company pages and executive profiles so they surface in AI answers and search results (content team supports) Own YouTube optimization, including titles, descriptions, transcripts, chapters, and how video content shows up in generated answers (content team supports) Pursue placement in third-party listicles, review sites, directories, comparison pages, and industry publications using our partner platforms (no outreach on your end) Partner with Content and Organic Social so off-site mentions are built into the broader program AI Tooling & Automation Build Claude skills and Claude Code workflows for recurring SEO and GEO deliverables Automate audits, visibility monitoring, reporting pulls, and data cleanup Prototype internal tooling where existing platforms fall short Document and hand off your workflows so the team can run them without you SEO Foundation Lead technical SEO work: crawlability, indexation, site architecture, internal linking, structured data, and page performance Direct keyword research, pillar strategy, and content collections based on client goals, competitors, and industry research Drive on-site content updates that move client KPIs Data, Measurement & Reporting Own SEO and GEO measurement frameworks using GA4, Google Search Console, Looker Studio, Semrush, SEOmonitor, and emerging AI visibility tooling Define how Obility measures AI search visibility, including what we report to clients and what we hold ourselves to Partner with internal teams to keep analytics, tagging, and attribution accurate as strategy evolves Build quarterly reports that cover performance and impact, what worked and what didn't and why, and next steps tied to business outcomes Surface opportunities proactively instead of reporting only on past performance Assist sales with GEO/SEO assessment for prospects (rotating with other strategists as need arises) Client Leadership Present to senior marketing leaders and C-suite stakeholders, guiding prioritization and decision-making Act as the senior SEO and GEO voice on your accounts, including the hard conversations Translate AI search concepts into clear, confident recommendations for people who don't follow this space every day Thought Leadership Run structured tests on new tactics, tools, and AI search behavior, then document the results Share what you learn with the SEO and GEO team and the wider agency through internal enablement sessions Write case studies from client wins Post regularly on LinkedIn about what you're testing and what you're finding Contribute to Obility's published content Cross-Functional Collaboration Work with Content, Organic Social, Paid Media, Data Reporting, and Customer Success so SEO and GEO are built into broader marketing programs Bring the SEO team into your thinking early so your methodology becomes theirs What Success Looks Like By Day 30: You'll have audited how our current clients show up in AI search, met the SEO, Content, and Paid teams, learned our formats and reporting standards, and formed a point of view on where our GEO approach needs to change. By Day 60: You'll have put that point of view into practice on live client work, shipped off-site visibility programs, and started documenting the methodology other strategists will follow. By Day 90 to 120: You own the GEO practice. Your book of business is running, your playbooks and Claude workflows are in use by the team, and you're setting the direction for how Obility approaches AI search. Qualifications & Experience 6+ years of progressive SEO experience, including at least two years owning strategy for B2B or enterprise clients, ideally agency-side A track record of building a program or practice around GEO, rather than running one someone else designed Daily hands-on use of Claude and working knowledge of Claude Code. This is required. You should be able to walk us through workflows you've built and what they replaced Deep technical SEO foundation Direct experience with off-site visibility work: Reddit, LinkedIn, YouTube, digital PR, review sites, or third-party placements Comfort operating without a defined playbook, and the judgment to know when your test results are solid enough to act on Experience mentoring or setting standards for other strategists Hands-on experience with Semrush, SEOmonitor, and emerging AI visibility platforms (AirOps, Profound, Peec) Familiarity with GA4, Google Search Console, Google Tag Manager, and Looker Studio Strong analytical skills and comfort turning data into clear recommendations Excellent written and verbal communication, especially with senior stakeholders Willingness to publish your work: LinkedIn posts, case studies, and internal documentation Ability to manage multiple clients and priorities in a fast-paced agency environment Bonus Points Familiarity with content management systems, especially WordPress Experience with B2B buyer journeys and complex sales funnels Building automations or agents that go beyond off-the-shelf tools Experience contributing to new business pitches or scoping service offerings This Might Not Be the Right Role for You If You want to stay in rankings, audits, and checklists, and AI search feels like a distraction You treat AI tools as an occasional novelty rather than part of how you work every day You prefer to be handed direction and would rather wait for a documented playbook than write one You're uncomfortable pushing a recommendation and testing before there's industry consensus behind it Publishing your work and opinions publicly makes you uncomfortable You struggle to stay organized or manage multiple projects (note: we use Asana, and most accounts also have a CSM to help with project management) Adapting to new processes or ways of working feels frustrating instead of an opportunity We're looking for someone confident, curious, and ready to tackle challenges head-on, even if you haven't seen it all before. IMPORTANT No need for a long cover letter. Instead, send your resume along with a short paragraph that hits two things: How you use an AI tool like Claude to run an SEO and GEO search program for your clients. Tell us what you built, what it automated, and what changed as a result. A client win (big or small) that shows off your SEO and GEO chops. Think of it as your 'show, don't tell' moment.
