Members can play, pause and resume watching as much as they want, anytime, anywhere, and can change their plans at any time.

About the Role

We're seeking a strategic L5 Software Engineer for our Talent Tech Engineering team, primarily focused on Data Architecture & Integrations. You'll drive the design, development, and governance of data integrations across our HR systems ecosystem, with emphasis on scalable, secure, and future-proof solutions. You'll set integration standards, collaborate with engineering partners, and shape our API marketplace using Netflix's paved road technologies.

Your core work involves architecting and implementing integrations between Workday, data warehouses, data lakes, and enterprise systems, leveraging workflow orchestration tools. You'll build robust, reusable, well-governed data pipelines and APIs ensuring HR data is accessible, reliable, and secure. When business needs require complete solutions beyond pure integration work, you'll bring full-stack capabilities to build internal tools, self-service portals, or specialized applications.

Key Responsibilities

  • Data Architecture & Integration Leadership (Primary - 80%)

    • Design and evolve HR data integration architecture ensuring scalability, reliability, and security

    • Define and enforce integration standards, best practices, and governance (data quality, lineage, compliance)

    • Lead development of integrations between Workday, data warehouses, data lakes, and enterprise systems

    • Architect and implement workflow orchestration using Temporal for reliable, durable task execution

    • Build and scale API marketplace using Netflix's paved road technologies

    • Define API standards, documentation, and lifecycle management; champion reusable patterns

    • Drive adoption of emerging integration technologies (event-driven architectures, GraphQL, serverless)

  • Full-Stack Application Development (Secondary - 20%)

    • Develop full-scale applications when business needs require end-to-end solutions

    • Build internal tools, self-service portals, and specialized applications leveraging the data infrastructure

    • Own front-end and back-end development ensuring scalability and maintainability

  • Strategic Leadership & Influence

    • Serve as thought leader and trusted advisor for data integration and architecture

    • Partner with engineering, data, product, and HR teams to align strategies with business goals

    • Mentor engineering teams on integration best practices, Temporal patterns, and emerging tools

    • Drive technical decision-making and architectural reviews

Main Skills & Qualifications

  • Data Architecture & Integration Expertise (Core)

    • Hands-on Temporal experience designing durable workflows, handling failures, managing long-running processes, and implementation

    • Strong Workday background including data model and integration frameworks (Workday Studio, EIB, APIs, Extend)

    • Deep experience in data architecture, data integration, and API design (REST, GraphQL, gRPC)

    • Proficiency with data warehouses (examples: Snowflake, Redshift, BigQuery) and data lakes (S3, Databricks, Delta Lake)

    • Experience with ETL/ELT tools, pipeline orchestration (Airflow, Dagster), and event-driven patterns (Kafka, Kinesis)

    • Proven ability to define and enforce integration standards, data quality, and governance practices

  • Full-Stack Development Capabilities (Required)

    • Proficiency in modern programming languages (Python, Java, TypeScript/Node.js, Go)

    • Experience building complete web applications with modern frameworks (React, Vue, Angular)

    • Understanding of backend architecture including RESTful services, microservices, and serverless patterns

    • Familiarity with SQL and NoSQL databases and their appropriate use cases

    • Ability to own application development from concept to deployment (CI/CD, operational considerations)

  • L5 Leadership & Innovation

    • Strong leadership, influence, and mentoring skills driving alignment across technical and business stakeholders

    • Excellent communication translating complex technical concepts for non-technical audiences

    • Track record of driving technical strategy and architecture decisions at scale

    • Demonstrated experience with emerging technologies (serverless, data mesh, API gateways, observability tools)

    • Understanding of cloud-native architectures and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes)

  • Preferred

    • Knowledge of HR business processes and talent lifecycle

    • Open-source contributions or technical community involvement
