Who we are

About Stripe

Stripe is a financial infrastructure platform for businesses. Millions of companies—from the world’s largest enterprises to the most ambitious startups—use Stripe to accept payments, grow their revenue, and accelerate new business opportunities. Our mission is to increase the GDP of the internet, and we have a staggering amount of work ahead. That means you have an unprecedented opportunity to put the global economy within everyone’s reach while doing the most important work of your career.

About the team

Stripe Apps lets developers create apps to streamline operations for just their team or for the more than one million businesses using Stripe. In the long term, our team will drive internal teams to develop 1st party Stripe apps, in addition to 3rd party apps made by external developers.

We need your help to expand the Stripe Apps platform and tools used by our app developers! Your work will allow Stripe to build a healthy and thriving app ecosystem that enables users to operate all parts of their business on Stripe and support new use cases.

What you’ll do

In this role, you’ll work on one of the most critical efforts for Stripe’s business.  We’re looking for a customer-focused full stack engineer to join our fast moving platform team with experience in data-driven product optimizations, high-polish user experiences, experimentation, and building backend and frontend infrastructure. You will work with experienced engineers, product managers, design, and data scientists to build the best merchant, developer, and end-user experiences.

Responsibilities

  • Work with a wide range of systems, processes and technologies to own and solve problems from end-to-end.

  • Build experiences for businesses that range from high growth startups to leading global companies providing them actionable insights they need to be able to scale their online business.

  • Craft new products and features that impact millions of people and businesses around the world such as building the fastest and most seamless checkout flow, and building systems to target the best experience for each consumer.

  • Collaborate with stakeholders across the organization such as product, design, infrastructure, marketing and operations.

  • Develop and execute against both short- and long-term roadmaps. Make effective tradeoffs that consider business priorities, user experience, and a sustainable technical foundation.

  • Uphold our high engineering standards and bring consistency to the many codebases and processes you will encounter.

Who you are

We’re looking for someone who meets the minimum requirements to be considered for the role. If you meet these requirements, you are encouraged to apply. The preferred qualifications are a bonus, not a requirement.

Minimum requirements

  • Have a strong technical background, including 5+ years of experience working on full stack codebases

  • Enjoy being a generalist working on both the frontend and backend

  • Prefer simple solutions and designs over complex ones, and have a good intuition for what will last and scale.

  • Are motivated by solving hard problems, and measure your success in terms of impact doing so.

  • Thrive in a highly collaborative environment involving different stakeholders and subject matter experts.

  • Enjoy working with a diverse group of people with different areas of expertise.

Preferred qualifications

  • Experience with Java and/or Ruby.

  • Experience with Golang would be a plus.

  • Experience with front-end technologies (HTML/CSS/TypeScript/React/Redux/REST APIs) would be a nice-to-have.

  • Experience with relational (e.g. MySQL) and NoSQL (e.g. MongoDB) databases.

  • Experience delivering products on time with high quality and polish

  • Have experience gathering and using data to analyze user behavior/intent to inform future product decisions

  • Take pride in working on projects to successful completion involving a wide variety of technologies and systems

  • Can put yourself in the shoes of your users and be a steward of crafting great experiences
