PLACE is an end-to-end technology and business services platform designed to simplify the real estate lifecycle for both consumers and their real estate agents. Top producing real estate teams partner with PLACE because we take care of bookkeeping, human resources, in-house legal, design and marketing, talent acquisition, business training and coaching. Consumers choose real estate teams Powered by PLACE because our partners are positioned to deliver a better experience to their valued clients.

Who we are

Brivity VA, a brand of PLACE, is looking for a self-starting FP&A Analyst who will support financial diligence, forecasting, and performance analysis for small-to-mid market (SMM) businesses. This role sits at the intersection of financial modeling, accounting analysis, and operational insight. You’ll build and stress-test models, normalize financials, identify risks, and help investment and operating teams understand what’s really going on under the hood of a business. This is a hands-on, high-expectation role for someone who loves living in models, enjoys finding accounting “weirdness,” and can explain complex financial stories clearly.

 Core Competencies and Responsibilities

  • Core Financial Analyses & Modeling: You will own end-to-end analytical workstreams including:

    • Three-statement financial modeling (Income Statement, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow)

    • Historical financial normalization (owner add-backs, non-recurring items, related-party adjustments)

    • Quality of Earnings (QoE) support

    • Revenue sustainability and customer concentration analysis

    • Margin bridge and variance analysis

    • Working capital trend analysis

    • Cash flow analysis and free cash flow (FCF) normalization

    • Identification of debt-like items

    • Scenario, sensitivity, and downside case modeling

    • Unit economics and cohort-style analysis (where applicable)

    • Budget vs. actual variance analysis

  • Accounting and Financial Statement Expertise: You won’t issue formal audit opinions, but you must understand accounting well enough to spot risk, inconsistencies, and red flags:

    • Strong working knowledge of GAAP (preferred) and IFRS

    • Accrual accounting concepts and financial statement linkages

    • Revenue recognition review and risk assessment

    • Expense classification and capitalization analysis

    • Working capital mechanics and cash conversion dynamics

    • AR aging analysis and bad debt risk

    • Inventory valuation methods and obsolescence risk

    • AP and accrued liabilities review

    • Understanding of common small-to-mid market (SMM) accounting weaknesses, including:

      • Cash-basis bookkeeping

      • Poor cutoff controls

      • Informal expense policies

  • Advanced Excel & Financial Tools Proficiency: You must be fast, clean, and reliable in tools:

    • Advanced Excel (complex formulas, structured models, scenario toggles)

    • Strong model hygiene (clear structure, assumptions sections, error checks, version control)

    • PowerPoint / Google Slides for executive-ready outputs

    • Familiarity with BI tools such as Power BI and Tableau

    • Basic SQL literacy for pulling and validating data

What you need to possess

  • 2–5+ years in FP&A, transaction advisory, diligence, consulting, IB, PE ops, or corporate finance

  • Heavy modeling exposure in Excel

  • Experience with small-to-mid market companies is a big plus

  • Comfortable working with imperfect data and messy books

  • High attention to detail + strong business judgment

  • Clear communicator who can translate numbers into insights

What’s in it for you

We offer a competitive compensation and benefits package that includes a retirement plan, full HMO coverage for you and an eligible dependent, performance-based incentives, ability to participate in our stock purchase program, and great support for ongoing professional development. You will also benefit from our culture that’s anchored on values such as doing the right thing, seeking first to understand, and living life passionately. It is engaging, challenging and absolutely rewarding!

Salary: $6-$8.5 per hour depending on skill/experience

If you are not certain this is something you’d be interested in pursuing, we still encourage you to complete the submission. Our career consultants can help you decide if your interests or attributes fit, and answer questions or clarifications you may have.
