At Mercury, we are building the banking* stack for startups and doing so with a focus on building a high-craft, simple, and powerful product experience.

The Mercury Dashboard Experience team is obsessively focused on delivering a high-quality end-to-end experience for our users. Our team works as the connective tissue across Mercury to define, design, and deliver user-facing experiences that cut across product areas. We are responsible for creating simple, powerful, and beautiful product experiences that users love and believe using Mercury should be magical from day one, whether running a single e-commerce side hustle or scaling a unicorn tech company.

We are looking for an Engineering Manager who is passionate about building great product experiences and can deliver on the future vision of the Mercury Dashboard. This team looks to maintain a high-quality experience for all Mercury products and to evolve that vision forward continuously. You’ll be working closely with your product and design counterparts to determine the highest impact initiatives for your team that support the ever-growing business use cases within Mercury.

* Mercury is a financial technology company, not a bank. Banking services provided by Choice Financial Group and Evolve Bank & Trust®; Members FDIC.

In this role, you’ll:

  • Lead a team of ~5 talented engineers across frontend and backend to build platform-wide features with a focus on speed and quality, and developing brand-new products that meet the growing needs of our business

  • Collaborate with Product and Design cross-functional partners to drive the roadmap and priorities for the team, and work with other engineering teams across Mercury

  • Steward the core web product experience (e.g. login, navigation, responsiveness) to ensure it continues to scale with our customers, and balance building new solutions with extending existing systems

  • Support the team to achieve a high level of technical excellence and build products that incite admiration from our customers

  • Develop talent on the team and hire when needed, you should be opinionated in building the team’s technical vision and play a primary role in technical decision-making

You should:

  • Have demonstrated the ability to lead a highly effective technical team, with at least 3 years of proven engineering management experience

  • Be opinionated in building the team’s technical vision and play a primary role in technical decision-making

  • Have experience building customer-facing products, especially products that are loved by its users

  • Have experience managing a team that delivers high-quality solutions end-to-end across frontend and backend

  • Have a strong individual engineering skill set. You will go through roughly the same interview process as our individual contributors, with additional interviews for manager skills

  • Have an interest in learning our tech stack (React, TypeScript, Haskell, Postgres) or have existing familiarity with it

We encourage you to try our demo site if you’re interested in applying for the role.

Our salary and equity ranges are highly competitive within the SaaS and fintech industry and are updated regularly using the most reliable compensation survey data for our industry. New hire offers are made based on a candidate’s experience, expertise, geographic location, and internal pay equity relative to peers.

Our target new-hire base salary ranges for this role are the following:

  • US employees (any location): $237,600 - 279,500

  • Canadian employees (any location): CAD 216,200 - 254,300
