Purpose

As Engineering Director, you are responsible for building and retaining a world-class team of engineers and leaders that take ownership of creating value within their domain. You will make sure that the team delivers, is working at a sustainable, continuously improving pace, and is satisfied with the job and the work that is being performed. You will be working closely with several other departments, such as account management, operations and marketing, to ensure we are effectively aligning company-wide efforts towards solving our clients’ problems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Technical Leadership

  • Provide strategic vision and technical leadership to software engineering teams, aligning with the organization's overall goals and objectives

  • Set the technical direction, standards, and best practices for software development and architecture

  • Drive innovation, stay updated on industry trends, and ensure the adoption of new technologies when appropriate

  •  Team Management

  • Manage and mentor a team of software engineers, fostering their growth and professional development

  • Define roles, responsibilities, and career paths within the engineering team

  • Build a collaborative and motivated engineering culture that promotes excellence, innovation, and continuous learning

  • Lead recruitment efforts to attract top engineering talent, conducting interviews and assessments

  • Project and Delivery Management

  • Oversee the planning, execution, and successful delivery of software projects, ensuring they meet quality, timeline, and budget expectations

  • Collaborate with Product Managers to prioritize features and align development efforts with business goals

  • Manage resource allocation, task assignments, and project timelines

  • Technical Strategy and Architecture

  • Develop and communicate the technical strategy, architectural vision, and roadmap for software products

  • Ensure software solutions are scalable, maintainable, and aligned with long-term business objectives

  • Evaluate and recommend technologies, tools, and frameworks that enhance development efficiency and product quality

  • Establish and enforce coding standards, testing procedures, and development methodologies

  • Ensure software quality through code reviews, testing strategies, and quality assurance processes

  • Drive a culture of quality, security, and reliability in software development

  • Collaboration and Communication

  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Product Management, Design, QA, DevOps, and other teams to ensure seamless software development and delivery

  • Communicate effectively with executive leadership, stakeholders, and teams to provide project updates, status reports, and technical insights

Position Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field

  • 10+ years of progressive experience in software engineering, with at least 5 years in leadership roles

  • Proven track record of leading and managing multiple software engineering teams

  • Extensive experience in software architecture, technical strategy, and project management

  • Strong understanding of software development methodologies, architectural principles, and emerging technologies

  • Exceptional leadership and communication skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate teams

  • Demonstrated ability to drive innovation, technical excellence, and collaboration across teams

  • Experience working in a fast-paced, agile environment with a focus on delivering high-quality software products

  • Strong problem-solving abilities and strategic thinking, with the ability to make informed decisions

  • Familiarity with budget management, resource allocation, and organizational planning

  • Advanced and assertive communication skills in oral and written English and Spanish
