The Employer Brand and Communications Specialist is a unique role within Marketing reporting to the VP of Communications and Amplification, tasked with bridging people systems and communications expertise to define, shape, and promote our employer brand. This role will ensure that internal communications engage employees, build trust during times of change, and elevate our employer brand. The ideal candidate is an exceptional storyteller and operationally savvy communicator who brings a creative edge to employee engagement. This self-starter will navigate the nuances of HR and organizational culture while upholding brand standards and prioritizing impactful strategies that resonate with current employees, prospective candidates, and industry audiences.

What your impact will be:

  • Employer Brand Strategy and Awareness: Develop and execute an employer branding strategy aligned with EDB’s culture, values, and long-term hiring goals. Support awareness of the EDB brand across social media, job boards, career pages, and other key platforms.

Employee Value Proposition (EVP): Define and continuously refine our company culture and what EDB offers as an employer.

  • Internal Communications Strategy: Develop and execute internal communications strategies that support HR initiatives and align with the company’s goals, fostering a cohesive, engaged, and positive employee experience.

  • Storytelling with a Creative Edge: Craft narratives that resonate with employees, translating complex HR information and change initiatives into clear, engaging messages that strengthen our culture and employer brand.

  • Enhancing Engagement in Times of Change: Tackle engagement challenges during periods of leadership transition and strategic shifts, ensuring transparent, consistent communication that helps employees feel informed and valued.

  • HR Partnership & Brand Advocacy: Serve as a bridge between HR and Marketing, working closely with both teams to refine our people messaging, improve alignment with our open-source values, and support talent strategy.

  • Content & Channel Management: Manage and optimize internal channels—email newsletters, intranet, chat platforms, and town halls—to ensure employees are informed through engaging and accessible communication.

  • Employee Feedback & Engagement: Drive two-way communication through employee feedback mechanisms, such as surveys and Q&A sessions, to continually refine messaging proactively.

  • Employer Brand Consistency: Collaborate with Comms and Brand leaders to enhance the consistency of our brand's look, feel, and messaging across internal touchpoints, supporting a cohesive identity that reinforces our reputation and credibility.

  • Data-Driven Improvements: Use metrics such as employee sentiment surveys, Glassdoor insights, and engagement analytics to refine communication strategies and measure the impact of internal content.

What you will bring:

  • Education & Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Human Resources, or related field; 3-5 years in internal communications, ideally with experience supporting HR-related content.

  • HR & People Systems Understanding: Familiarity with HR functions, policies, and people systems, with the ability to distill and communicate these areas effectively to employees.

  • Exceptional Writing & Storytelling Skills: A natural storyteller with a creative approach to internal content, able to make complex or routine information feel relevant and engaging.

  • Prioritization & Initiative: Exercise strong judgment to balance the varied requests and objectives of the role, with an ability to self-prioritize and determine the best timing, tone, and content for each communication need.

  • Channel Management Proficiency: Experience using internal communication platforms (e.g., Slack, Microsoft Teams, Confluence), with a keen eye for effective content presentation.

  • EQ & Interpersonal Skills: High emotional intelligence with the ability to collaborate and build trust across departments, especially with HR and leadership teams.

  • Brand & Comms Standards Orientation: A strong commitment to brand and communication standards, with the judgment to maintain and elevate brand voice across all internal touchpoints.

  • High Integrity & Discretion: Trustworthy and discreet, especially in handling sensitive HR-related information.

  • Distributed Workforce Understanding: Familiarity with engaging and connecting a remote, distributed workforce.

  • Visual Communication Skills: Experience with tools like Canva or Adobe Suite to enhance visual appeal in content. Experience collaborating with creative and brand teams.
