We are looking for a Director, Treasury Operations to lead EMEA and scale Kraken’s treasury capabilities across the region, partnering closely with global Treasury leadership and the CFO organization. This role oversees regional liquidity management, banking and payments infrastructure, cash and crypto operations, and regulatory alignment across multiple jurisdictions.
Operating at the intersection of Finance, Risk, Compliance, Data, and Engineering, the Director will strengthen governance, modernize treasury infrastructure, and drive operational excellence as Kraken advances toward public-company standards. We are seeking a strategic yet hands-on leader with deep EMEA expertise, strong accounting and regulatory knowledge, and experience navigating complex, multi-entity environments. The ideal candidate brings sound judgment, attention to detail, and a collaborative approach in a fast-moving, regulated global business.
The opportunity
Lead and scale treasury operations across EMEA, Kraken’s highest-volume region, with full accountability for liquidity management, funding strategy, and operational performance
Operate autonomously within the region while aligning to global treasury policy; serve as a strategic deputy and back-up to the Senior Director when required
Own short-, medium-, and long-term liquidity planning across EMEA entities, including forecasting, capital allocation, FX management, and cross-border funding optimization
Manage and strengthen relationships with regional banking partners, central banks, and payment providers; negotiate services, pricing, and credit structures
Ensure compliance with EMEA regulatory requirements (safeguarding, client money, AML, supervisory expectations) and support audits and regulatory engagements
Oversee fiat and digital asset treasury operations, including reconciliations, settlements, and operational risk controls across multiple entities and currencies
Contribute to the long-term global treasury vision and lead global initiatives aligned with EMEA priorities, including banking strategy, systems implementation, liquidity infrastructure, and automation
Drive modernization, scalability, and public-company readiness through enhanced controls, governance, and process automation
Partner with Data, Engineering, and Product to develop liquidity dashboards and analytics that inform executive decision-making
Build, mentor, and expand a high-performing and grown regional treasury team, strengthening leadership depth and succession planning
Support M&A, entity expansion, and regulatory growth within EMEA, including due diligence, banking setup, and integration
Maintain robust fraud prevention, business continuity, and disaster recovery frameworks for treasury operations
Communicate regional treasury performance, risks, and strategic priorities clearly to global leadership

Skills you should HODL
10+ years of progressive experience in treasury, finance, or related functions, with meaningful leadership responsibility
Strong experience managing treasury operations across EMEA, including multi-currency, cross-border, and multi-entity environments
Background in fintech, cryptocurrency, payments, or financial services strongly preferred
Solid understanding of EMEA regulatory frameworks impacting treasury, payments, safeguarding, and liquidity management
Experience working with both fiat and digital assets, including wallets, blockchain transactions, and crypto liquidity considerations
Proven ability to improve processes, implement treasury technologies, and drive automation and scalability
Strong commercial and negotiation skills with banks, PSPs, and financial partners
Understanding of capital markets, liquidity risk, and treasury-related financial risk management
Strong analytical capabilities, including cash forecasting, financial modeling, and dashboarding/BI tools
Clear, confident communicator with experience partnering with senior leaders across functions and geographies
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field; MBA, CFA, or CTP a plus
