Job Overview:

Coursera is entering its next phase of growth following the merger with Udemy, bringing together a global, distributed workforce and an expanded real estate footprint. We are seeking a Director / Senior Director of Global Real Estate & Workplace Experience to define and execute the future of work across our global portfolio. This is a high-impact leadership role responsible for shaping and optimizing our real estate strategy, evolving our hybrid operating model, and delivering a consistent, high-quality workplace experience across regions. The role blends strategic leadership with operational execution, ensuring our workplaces are cost-efficient, safe, and designed to support collaboration, productivity, and culture. Partnering closely with cross-functional leaders across Finance, People, IT, Legal, and Security, this leader will drive scalable global standards while navigating regional nuances, helping position the workplace as a key lever for business performance, employee engagement, and long-term growth.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute a global real estate and workplace strategy aligned with Coursera’s hybrid work model, business priorities, and post-merger integration goals.
  • Lead global portfolio management, including lease negotiations, site strategy, space optimization, consolidations, and long-range planning across multiple regions.
  • Drive a consistent, high-quality workplace experience across all offices and flexible workspaces, ensuring environments support collaboration, productivity, and employee engagement.
  • Oversee workplace operations, facilities, safety, security, emergency preparedness, and business continuity programs to ensure compliant, safe, and resilient workplaces globally.
  • Partner cross-functionally with Finance, People, IT, Legal, and Security to deliver scalable workplace solutions, operational excellence, and data-driven decision making.
  • Lead workplace technology and smart office initiatives, including occupancy analytics, space planning tools, visitor management, and collaboration technologies.
  • Build and lead a high-performing global team while managing vendor relationships, budgets, and external partnerships to drive efficiency, service excellence, and continuous improvement.

Basic Qualifications:

  • 12+ years of experience in real estate, workplace, facilities, or operations leadership
  • 5+ years leading distributed teams
  • Proven experience managing global office portfolios  and strong expertise in lease negotiation, workplace strategy, and capital project delivery
  • Experience implementing hybrid workplace models and flexible workspace solutions
  • Demonstrated ability to use data and analytics to drive decisions
  • Strong financial acumen (budgeting, forecasting, ROI analysis)
  • Experience with workplace technologies and smart office tools
  • Expertise in safety, security, and compliance frameworks
Compensation:
This role is available in the following US Pay Zones:
US Zone 1: $192,000-$241,000
US Zone 2: $186,000-$233,000
US Zone 3: $171,000-$214,000
US Zone 4: $160,000-$200,000
