Job Category

The Director of Product is responsible for creating and executing a comprehensive product strategy that aligns with company objectives and market needs. This involves leading and mentoring the product management team to innovate and perform, while managing the development process to deliver high-quality products on schedule. The role includes overseeing a PMO team that integrates strategic initiatives with products and services, ensuring compliance with industry standards, and monitoring market trends to maintain a competitive edge. The director will balance various interests and technical integrations, collaborating with key stakeholders across the organization. They will manage the product portfolio based on strategic value and resource availability, work with marketing and sales for effective product launches, define and track KPIs, engage with customers for feedback, and evangelize the company’s offerings to align internal stakeholders with the product roadmap. 

 

Responsibilities

  • Product Strategy and Management: 

    • Develop and implement a comprehensive product strategy that aligns with the company's goals and market demand. 

    • Lead the product management team, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and performance.  Guide and mentor a team of product managers to help evaluate, design, implement, and maintain Modernize’s products and infrastructure services and help them grow and develop in their roles. 

    • Oversee the product development process, ensuring timely delivery of high-quality products including a PMO team that manages strategic initiatives and projects that intertwine with our products and services 

    • Ensure products comply with industry regulations and standards. 

    • Monitor industry trends and competitive landscape to inform product strategy and ensure Modernize’s solutions are competitive with external offerings and are evolving with changes in the industry. 

    • Ability to balance player, partner, and business interests while considering technical integration tradeoffs. 

    • Collaborate closely with other leaders in Central Technology and across subject areas to drive practices and positive team culture. 

    • Manage the product portfolio, prioritizing projects based on strategic importance and resource availability. 

  • Go to Market Strategy and Execution: 

    • Work closely with marketing, sales, and engineering teams to ensure successful product launches and market penetration. 

    • Define and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) for product success and adjust strategies, as necessary. 

    • Engage with customers and stakeholders to gather feedback and incorporate it into product development. 

    • Evangelize our offerings. Get commitments from internal customers and achieve roadmap alignment. Be able to clearly articulate the value of developer and infrastructure related technology initiatives and help our partner teams understand that value as it applies to the problems that they are looking to solve.

Requirements

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work closely with clients and other stakeholders to understand their needs and goals. 

  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to identify and address technical challenges. 

  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills with the ability to interpret complex data, perform market research, and draw actionable insights. 

  • Demonstrated ability to think strategically, formulate market development plans, and align them with overall business objectives. 

  • Proficient in conducting thorough market research, including segmentation, competitive analysis, and trend identification individually, this will begin as an individual contributor role  

  • Ability to adapt to a fast-paced and evolving business environment, making informed decisions in dynamic situations. 

  • You must be a self-starter. This is a new role for our organization where structure will need to be developed and thought leadership is necessary.  

  • Media Performance – You must have a solid understanding of digital marketing and how it impacts buying decisions.  

  • You have had experience growing a performance marketing channel and/or category. Your portfolio has experience of growth in building channels and programs successfully.  

  • You have a creative and innovative approach to problem-solving, with a demonstrated ability to identify and capitalize on market opportunities. (Not a one size fits all approach)  

  • You have a record of accomplishment of achieving and exceeding goals, with a focus on measurable outcomes and key performance indicators (KPIs). 

The expected salary range for this position is $120,000 USD to $165,000 USD annually. This salary range is an estimate, and the actual salary may vary based on the Company’s compensation practices. The salary may be adjusted based on applicant's geographic location. The position is also eligible to receive performance bonus or commission and equity in the form of restricted stock units. This position is eligible to participate in the Company’s standard employee benefits programs, which currently include health care benefits; (2) retirement benefits; (3) the amount of paid days off (paid sick leave, parental leave, paid time off, or vacation benefits); (4) any other tax-reportable benefits.
