Description

We are seeking a highly motivated, experienced insurance professional to join the Property & Specialty Product Frontier team in the role of Director  leading the Specialty portfolio. The P&S Product Frontier team sits at the center of a multi-year transformation effort, leading the requirements work needed to bring Homeowners, Condo, and Umbrella products to life on Liberty Mutual's modern Unified Insurance Platform (UIP). This is an individual contributor role responsible for leading planning and execution for the Specialty portfolio, with an immediate focus on Umbrella and secondary support for Condo deviation planning.

This role requires strong program management skills, a working knowledge of personal lines insurance products, and the ability to coordinate across multiple teams and timelines in a fast-moving, cross-functional environment. The ideal candidate brings experience in personal lines insurance paired with strong organizational and communication skills to keep complex, multi-LOB work on track.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop a clear, sequenced timeline for Umbrella-specific interim deliverables across each phase of the project
  • Identify and align resources needed to support Umbrella requirements work, coordinating with the broader P&S Frontier team and relevant subject matter experts
  • Where applicable, develop cross-LOB plans that account for Umbrella's relationship to other lines (e.g., identifying reusable requirements or shared capabilities from Auto as a potential parallel)
  • Proactively surface risks, decisions, and dependencies ahead of key milestones and ensure the right stakeholders are engaged to keep work moving
  • Ensure deliverables are completed on time, meet quality standards, and are structured to support downstream elaboration and build
  • Track progress against the plan, identify gaps or blockers, and make day-to-day decisions to keep work moving without requiring constant escalation
  • Partner closely with Experience, Solutions, and Tech teams to ensure Umbrella requirements are aligned and actionable
  • As needed, support planning and execution of Condo-specific deviations from the Homeowners baseline
  • Identify where Condo requires unique requirements work versus reuse from Home, and ensure those deviations are captured and sequenced appropriately

IDEAL CANDIDATE

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Experience in personal lines insurance product management or program management, with familiarity across the policy lifecycle (new business, servicing, renewal, etc.)
  • Strong program management skills: ability to build and maintain plans, track deliverables across multiple workstreams, and ensure consistent progress against timelines
  • Comfort working in ambiguous, evolving environments where plans and priorities may shift as the program matures
  • Strong communication and coordination skills, with the ability to align stakeholders across product, technology, and delivery teams
  • Familiarity with requirements development processes (e.g., ability-to statements, epics, business journeys) is a plus, though deep technical expertise is not required
  • Auto insurance experience is a plus given similarities between Umbrella and Auto lines of business
Qualifications
  • Master's degree or equivalent in mathematics, economics, statistics, or other quantitative field
  • Minimum 7 years relevant work experience, typically 10 years
  • PhD or equivalent research experience beneficial
  • Expert skills in Excel, PowerPoint, and statistical software packages (e.g, SAS, Emblem)
  • Must have exceptional planning, analytical, decision-making, communication, and project management skills
  • Experience managing or leading others beneficial
