Hi, I’m Natalie Dusome, Founder and CEO of Poppy & Peonies.
At Poppy & Peonies, we’re a fun and energetic brand that believes style and function should always go hand-in-hand. We’re passionate about creating practical pieces that make life a little easier and literally lighten the load.
Building Poppy & Peonies has been an incredible adventure. It all started when my daughter Poppy was born, and I found that my accessories no longer fit my new life as a mom. I needed bags with pockets and organization that looked cool but also had functionality. When I couldn’t find them, I decided to create them myself. And so, in 2015, Poppy & Peonies was born.
We’ve come a long way since then—from filling orders in my basement to appearing on Dragons’ Den, and now, expanding into new product categories and collaborating with exciting influencers and brands. It hasn’t always been smooth sailing, but thanks to our incredible community, we’ve never felt more loved and supported!
We believe in our responsibility to care for the environment and are passionate about preserving the health and welfare of our planet and the animals that live on it. That’s why all of our bags are made from high-quality vegan leather, and our entire product line is vegan, cruelty-free, and PETA-approved. We ship our products plastic-free and use a combination of recycled, compostable, and biodegradable materials to mitigate shipping waste. We are constantly looking for new ways to make our products and supply chain more sustainable, reducing our carbon footprint.
As our Director of Operations, own and scale the operational backbone of Poppy & Peonies. You will lead supply chain, inventory, and fulfillment strategy across Canada and the U.S., ensuring the business can grow efficiently without compromising on customer experience, product quality, or brand values.
This role sits at the centre of product, finance, and commercial execution. You will partner closely with leadership to translate growth plans into operational reality—making sure the right products are in the right place at the right time, especially as we scale across multiple channels and regions.
A key focus of this role will be building scalable systems and structure to support rapid growth, including U.S. expansion, new warehouse and 3PL relationships, and emerging sales channels such as TikTok Shop.
This is a hands-on leadership role ideal for someone who loves building structure in fast-moving environments and can confidently move between strategy, systems, and execution.
Does this sound like you?
Do you thrive on building systems that make fast-growing businesses run smoothly?
Are you excited by solving complex operational challenges across supply chain, inventory, and logistics?
Do you enjoy working closely with leadership to turn growth plans into execution?
Are you energized by bringing order, clarity, and scalability to a brand that is growing quickly across multiple markets?
If you answered yes, yes, yes and yes—we would love to hear from you!
The Opportunity
Inbound logistics & transportation: Lead inbound strategy and execution from supplier to 3PL/DC, designing scalable, cost-effective transportation solutions with freight forwarders.
3PL performance management: Own daily and ongoing performance of all 3PL fulfillment partners, including weekly/monthly business reviews and SLA enforcement across receiving, pick/pack/ship, and returns.
Issue resolution: Lead root-cause analysis and corrective action for fulfillment misses, labor shortfalls, and shipping delays.
Peak readiness: Drive volume forecasting, labor staffing, carrier capacity, and contingency planning for peak periods.
KPI reporting: Build and maintain the operations scorecard (ship-on-time, fulfillment accuracy, return rate, freight spend) and deliver regular performance readouts to leadership
Financial partnership: Work with Finance on freight accrual, 3PL cost-to-serve analysis, and operational budget performance.
Process & systems improvement: Maintain an SOP library, assist in implementation of better inventory management systems and tools, and lead initiatives with clear cost/speed/accuracy ROI.
People leadership: Build, manage, and develop the Operations team as it scales.
Cross-functional partnership: Support leadership on channel expansion, launches, and new 3PL onboarding; partner with Product, Marketing, and Growth on launches and demand-driven volume.
What You Bring to the Table:
7–10 years of experience in DTC/eCommerce operations, fulfillment, logistics, or supply chain, including senior or lead-level scope.
Proven experience managing 3PL partners and multi-node fulfillment networks at scale.
Business acumen with the ability to partner effectively across Finance, Product, and Marketing.
Strong working knowledge of OMS and WMS platforms; proficiency in Excel/Google Sheets
Track record of leading cross-functional operational initiatives that delivered measurable cost, speed, or accuracy improvements.
Experience with peak-season planning (volume forecasting, labor staffing, carrier capacity) in a high-growth environment.
Experience supporting cross-border (Canada/U.S.) operations preferred.
Experience managing Customs (Duties & Tariffs) and Imports (Taxes) is an asset (note: this builds off the cross border, but is more prescriptive on the executable components)
Proven ability to manage & find efficiencies in optimizing inventory management costs while minimizing lost sales and out of stocks
Clear understanding of and ability to proactively communicate supply chain KPIs
Don’t worry if you don’t check every box. We care just as much about mindset, curiosity, and leadership as we do about experience. If this role excites you, we encourage you to apply.
