To advance Teach For All’s 25-year vision , we are seeking a Director of Alumni Leadership to catalyze the collective impact of our alumni network across the Americas. This role will lead our efforts to strengthen alumni leadership and build a more connected and influential alumni movement across Latin America, transforming the systems that shape the lives and learning outcomes of children in underserved communities.
This role requires a high degree of autonomy and initiative to drive results, leveraging a collaborative approach to consult with network partners and build the resources necessary to strengthen the region’s alumni leadership pipeline.
The ideal candidate is a strategic movement-builder who balances a high-level vision for systems change with the practical ability to mobilize people. You are someone who sees the immense potential of our alumni and possesses the natural ability to connect leaders across borders, turning individual leaders into a unified regional movement. Driven by a deep commitment to educational equity in Latin America, you are an expert at cultivating leadership in others, communicating complex information, designing group learning journeys, and weaving meaningful relationships. Most importantly, you are a clear-eyed advocate for children, focused on transforming the structures that limit their potential to ensure every student in the region can thrive.
In this role, you will be responsible for:
- supporting Teach For All network partner organizations in the Americas through high quality coaching and consulting; fostering peer learning between them; and developing resources and training to build and strengthen their local alumni strategies.
- driving Teach For All’s strategy to strengthen alumni leadership and connectedness in the region through devising new programs which develop alumni leadership, foster their connectivity and peer learning so that they grow as leaders, learn from and support one another, to increase their impact.
This role is part of Teach For All’s Global Alumni Leadership Team, with counterparts in other regions to spread learning and innovation across regions. The role reports to the Head of Alumni Leadership but will work in very close - daily- collaboration with colleagues in Teach For All’s Americas regional team and our global Collective Learning & Consulting team.

About the Team
Today there are over 114,000 Teach For All network alumni working across more than 60 countries. Together, they are one of the world’s largest networks of local leaders working collectively in pursuit of transformational progress for children. We have seen that local alumni leaders move faster when we continue to invest in their growth and are exposed to what is possible in other contexts.
Teach For All’s Alumni Leadership Team

The Alumni Leadership Team is globally spread, with team members in Asia Pacific, Europe, Africa, North America and the Americas.
Key Responsibilities
Partner Support
There are currently 11 network partners in the Americas region. Each organization is developing their alumni leaders at the local level. To support their efforts, you will:
- Collaborate with Teach For All’s Americas regional team and Functional Area specialists to diagnose and constantly re-evaluate the needs and strengths of partners to determine and deliver the most appropriate support strategies and capture and share innovations and learnings.
- Establish strong, trust-based relationships with Heads of Alumni in the Americas, engaging regularly to understand their unique challenges, successes, and areas of growth.
- Work in close partnership with specialists across and beyond Teach For All to remain at the forefront of the latest network knowledge and insights about developing collective leadership through the recruitment, selection, placement and training of leaders, contributing new insights as you come across them, and developing shared learning experiences.
- Share these insights (based on your diagnosis of a partners’ needs and priorities) through various mediums including facilitating learning experiences, workshops, newsletters and online platforms, driving learning and engagement amongst Heads of Alumni.
- Manage a robust learning community between Heads of Alumni in the Americas which facilitates peer learning, information exchange, peer support, collaboration between them to accelerate their local efforts.
- Provide personalized coaching and consulting to Heads of Alumni, leveraging your expertise to address specific challenges and enhance the effectiveness of their alumni impact strategies.
- Influence Chief Program Officers and network partner CEOs, in close partnership with the regional team, to build momentum for alumni support outside of the Head of Alumni role, and collaborate with others to execute high quality cross-functional support and learning across many senior stakeholders to ensure alumni strategy and support is a priority for network partners in the region.
Develop Alumni Leaders
There are currently ~5300 alumni leaders in the Americas region. To support them to grow as leaders, and learn from one another, you will:
- Proactively build strong, credible relationships with alumni leaders to understand their unique challenges, successes, and areas of growth. You will be the Teach For All “point person” for alumni to field their requests and ideas, and the ‘go-to’ for Teach For All staff with questions about alumni in the region.
- Partner with the Americas regional team, network CEOs and Heads of Alumni to create and execute programs to accelerate alumni leadership and connectivity at the regional level such as Latido Latino, Policy Fellowships and School Leader exchange programs.
- Coordinate small groups of alumni volunteers including our Americas Advisory Committee and our Network Connectors to best leverage their energy and skills towards our goals, with the Americas team.
- Manage a vibrant online community of alumni on WhatsApp to foster their connectivity, learning and to share opportunities for leadership development.
- Manage applications to Teach For All’s Communities & Connections Fund to enable alumni to self-organize regional virtual and in-person learning exchanges.
- Capture and share stories of alumni leadership and impact to inspire and motivate others and demonstrate progress in the region.
Qualifications
- 8+ years of relevant working experience with a credible background in leadership, leadership development, systems change, and/or network building
- Passion and experience in growing the leadership capacities of others through training and coaching
- Exceptional communication skills capable of distilling complex ideas and data into clear, actionable insights for diverse audiences
- Proven ability to build strong, credible relationships with multiple stakeholders to understand their goals and motivations in order to support collaboration while working virtually and remotely
- Exceptional strategic thinking abilities with proven track record of diagnosing and solving complex problems, exercising strong judgment and working with ambiguity
- Ability to work collaboratively and flexibly with colleagues globally, including a high volume of virtual engagement (i.e., conference calls, virtual collaboration tools)
- Superior project management skills; a self-starter with the ability to manage multiple streams of work, use strong judgment to independently determine actions and prioritize tasks, and work effectively in a dynamic, globally dispersed team environment
- Experience and ability to design and execute powerful remote and in-person learning experiences (events, workshops, etc.)
- Strong orientation towards diversity, inclusivity and equity with heightened levels of self-awareness, cross cultural competence and humility, and ability to adapt approach and communications styles accordingly
- Ability to influence and motivate others outside of direct team relationships
- Must be able to work fluently in English & Spanish.
Additional desirable skills
- Prior experience and a strong track record of impact as an alumni and/or senior leader from within the Teach For All network is strongly preferred
- Prior experience as a coach or consultant or launching/ leading own venture
- Experience managing virtual peer learning communities and building strong peer networks
- Experience managing and mobilizing volunteers
- Portuguese language is very desirable
