Description

The Modeling Data Solutions team is hiring a People Leader to build and lead a new team responsible for our internal tooling and technical processes. We are looking for candidates with strong Python expertise, deep experience with AWS cloud services, and demonstrated proficiency with Snowflake and data engineering best practices. This person will act as a hands-on technical leader and problem solver, working closely with the Data Office and ED&DS to evaluate and recommend tooling and processes, and to mentor team members on programming and engineering standards.

This is an opportunity to join the US Data Science Infrastructure department and support the development of cutting-edge pricing programs. You will play a key role in defining the data architecture and tooling required to produce the data needed for modeling and calibration efforts, and to create and deploy new pricing products to market.

Responsibilities:

Build and lead a small team of data solutions analysts: set clear goals and expectations, coach and mentor for career growth, foster high performance, and promote diverse perspectives.

  • Define, document and enforce technical standards and best practices for Python code, data modeling, ETL/ELT, testing, CI/CD, deployment and documentation.

  • Develop and maintain reusable patterns, templates, and shared libraries to improve productivity, consistency and reliability across the team.

  • Evaluate new open-source and vendor tools, frameworks and platforms; run proof-of-concepts, assess fit, security, integration risk and ROI, and provide clear recommendations.

  • Keep the team current with industry trends and emerging capabilities through training, knowledge-sharing and regular technical reviews.

  • Maintain clear, discoverable documentation and data governance artifacts to support reproducibility, lineage and compliance.

  • Collaborate across functions (data engineering, data science, data solutions analysts and others) to define standards, select tooling, and align on architecture and delivery priorities.

This is a range posting. Candidates will be considered at the appropriate level depending on experience and qualifications.

Qualifications

  • Strong written and oral communication skills required.

  • Bachelor's Degree in Data Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related discipline preferred.

  • Master's in same or related disciplines strongly preferred.

  • 10+ years' experience in coding for data management, data warehousing, or other data environments.

  • Experience with python, Snowflake, and AWS cloud computing required.

  • Able to identify stakeholder and customer pain points and strategically address those concerns.

  • Able to describe value and influence the prioritization of data solutions.

  • Able to organize and balance resources to address customer pain points.
