As Director, Business Operations, you’ll ensure the business runs smoothly, efficiently, and in alignment with our strategic goals. This is a leadership role for someone who strives for clarity, collaboration, and driving meaningful outcomes through process and systems thinking.

You’ll evolve our Operations department, overseeing Resource Management and IT/Business Automation. You’ll act as connective tissue across departments, ensuring we have the right people, tools, and processes in place to deliver on our mission. The right candidate will bring a rare blend of operational precision, strategic foresight, and people-first leadership. You’ll see around corners, remove organization friction, and help Metalab scale sustainably - without losing its soul.

What You’ll Do:

Leadership & Strategy

  • Partner with the executive team to translate company strategy into operational plans, KPIs, and systems that drive accountability and performance.

  • Lead and mentor a cross-functional team spanning Resource Management and IT/Business Automation, fostering collaboration, clarity, and ownership.

  • Identify and remove operational redundancies across the business, simplifying workflows, improving communication, and clarifying ownership.

  • Champion scalable systems and tools that enable teams to operate efficiently and focus on high-impact work.

Resource Management

  • Provide strategic direction to the Resource Management function, ensuring talent is effectively aligned to business priorities and project demands.

  • Oversee the design and continuous improvement of tools, systems, and reporting frameworks that provide visibility into utilization, forecasting, and project health.

  • Act as an escalation point and strategic advisor, ensuring the function operates with efficiency and foresight.

Information Technology / Business Automation

  • Partner with the IT leadership of our parent company to provide strategic oversight of Metalab’s  IT function, ensuring systems, infrastructure, and tools are secure, efficient, and aligned with business needs.

  • Drive optimization of digital systems and processes across the organization to enhance productivity and data visibility.

  • Oversee the implementation of business automations that streamline operations, eliminate repetitive tasks, and improve data accuracy. Collaborate with department leads to identify opportunities that deliver measurable impact.

Cross-Functional Partnership

  • Act as a trusted partner to all departments, ensuring Operations supports our collective business goals.

  • Collaborate closely with People Operations to align on employee experience initiatives.

  • Work with Delivery, and Leadership teams to ensure resourcing, hiring, and systems decisions are made holistically and in support of company strategy.

  • Work with Finance and Project Management to ensure our reporting provides the visibility necessary to make informed decisions.

  • Bring a neutral, objective lens to problem solving, balancing competing priorities and helping teams align around shared outcomes.

What You Bring:

  • 10+ years of experience in Operations, Resource Management, or Business Strategy, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.

  • Proven experience scaling processes, teams, and systems in a complex, creative, or technology-driven organization.

  • Exceptional analytical and strategic skills with the ability to translate data into insight and insight into action.

  • Deep understanding of operational frameworks and performance metrics.

  • Strong leadership and collaboration skills. You know how to align diverse teams and personalities toward a shared goal.

  • Comfortable making decisions in ambiguity and guiding others through change.

  • A builder mindset - always looking for smarter, simpler, more sustainable ways to get things done.
