Description

The Regulatory Support Organization (RSO) is seeking a Director I, Data Solutions to manage a team of data solutions analysts in support of mandatory Regulatory Reporting, Data Procurement, and Enterprise-wide products, data, and architecture modernizations.  In this high-visibility role you will work with a team of Data Support Analysts as well as stakeholders from across the enterprise to ensure delivery of statistical data to our key stakeholders (regulators, business partners, customers) helping Liberty Mutual Insurance fulfill their statutory and statistical obligations as an insurer and helping to maintain an optimal regulatory environment.

Responsibilities

  • Leads a team in prototyping/developing, defining, and implementing data solutions that meet the needs of the organization and external Regulatory stakeholder requirements to include proof-of-concepts, data validation, and solutions.

  • Leverages multiple Data coding languages (i.e. SAS, SQL) to ensure that the team develops reusable code modules to solve problems.

  • Leads a team to use best practices and iterative testing to ensure requirements are met. Acts as a technical resource and mentor for staff.

  • Leads a team in designing and developing data solutions that enable effective self-service data consumption and can describe their value to the customer.

  • Works with stakeholders in defining data requirements and metrics that support accurate, timely, and complete regulatory reporting.

  • Prioritizes efforts based on internal and external stakeholder needs while ensuring obligatory reporting requirements are met.

  • Manages projects and collaborates with stakeholders to ensure effective project execution.

  • May act as a change agent across the organization.

  • Leads the team in effectively transferring knowledge via documentation and process management.

  • May create roadmaps for data solutions and turn vague ideas or problems into a data strategy.

  • Influences strategic thinking across the team and the broader organization.

  • Ensures data solutions include activities and deliverables required to achieve high data quality to include solution testing and data validation.

  • Has a working understanding of complex multi-tier, multi-platform systems, and applies principles of metadata, lineage, business definitions, compliance, and data security to project and data work.

  • Guides a team to break down data issues and resolve them by prototyping data solutions to meet the needs of both the organization and business customers.

Qualifications

  • Strong written and oral communication skills required.

  • Proven People leadership – prior experience effectively managing talent as well as proven change management experience.

  • Proven ability to lead and drive projects and assignments to completion through others.

  • Demonstrated ability to exchange ideas and convey complex information clearly and concisely

  • Proven experience extracting and transforming enterprise data and delivering normalized or production ready outputs.

  • Proven cross functional relationship building to effectively meet the needs of internal and external stakeholders.

  • 7-10 years’ experience in coding for data management, data procurement, or other data environments, including, but not limited to, working in SAS, SQL, Snowflake, Power Bi/Power Query, JCL, and /or Focus.

  • Able to identify stakeholder and customer pain points and strategically address those concerns.

  • Able to organize and balance resources to address customer pain points.

  • Able to describe value and influence the prioritization of data solutions.

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Computer Engineering, or related discipline preferred. Masters in same or related disciplines strongly preferred.
