Who we are

At Makeswift a BigCommerce company, we're on a mission to change the way sites are built. To do this, we need to bridge the gap between no-code and custom-code solutions by marrying an elegant user experience with an intuitive developer experience.

Instead of bottlenecked design to production workflows, build production-ready sites directly with production components. Growing team? Version control and real time collaboration. Working with engineers? Reuse their work by integrating existing components directly into Makeswift.

You will work directly with Makeswift leadership to develop initiatives to grow and nurture our developer community, and have the responsibility of transforming innovative ideas into reality.

You'll manage our docs and create engaging content like tutorials, sample code, and starter kits to educate and support developers. Acting as the 'voice of the developer,' you'll relay feedback to our product and engineering teams, ensuring Makeswift remains developer-friendly.

In this high-impact, high-visibility role, you'll represent Makeswift and BigCommerce at conferences, meetups, and events, where your expertise will resonate with the community. You'll also seek collaboration opportunities within the developer ecosystem to further Makeswift’s developer community goals.

Who you are

  • An engineer: You have proven experience in the technology industry as an engineer, technical product manager, developer community manager, developer advocate, developer educator, technically-minded entrepreneur, or similar roles

  • BS/MS in CS, CE, SEW, EE or MIS, or equivalent experience

  • Strong communicator: You have excellent verbal, written, and presentation-based communication skills. You can communicate complex technical concepts to a diverse audience

  • Content creator: You have a knack for creating high-quality content in multiple formats, from technical content and tutorials to engaging product videos. An existing following is a big plus

  • Passionate teacher: Sharing your knowledge with others excites you. You look forward to engage and educate the developer community

  • Continuous learner: You not only have strong knowledge of development best practices but you have the ability to and seek to learn new languages, frameworks and technologies. You are enthusiastic about staying up-to-date with the latest trends and advancements in web development

  • Extreme owner: You take initiative in coming up with and executing your own projects to meet a goal. You think outside the box

  • Lead by example: You’re able to work as an individual contributor, leading your peers by example, as well as a manager, supporting and growing individuals within a team

  • Nimble: You are open to changing focus and plans when priorities shift in the high-growth environment that is tech

What you'll do

  • Craft and implement strategic plans that enhance developer awareness of Makeswift

  • Seek out and maintain meaningful relationships and partnerships with the wider web development community

  • Create content and resources targeted at web developers like example code or starter kits to fast-track developer engagement and success

  • Serve as a prominent internal voice for the developer community, gathering feedback and ensuring our platform continuously evolves to be more developer-friendly

  • Synthesize community feedback, providing clear, actionable insights to product and engineering teams to inform platform enhancements
