What is the role
As our Developer Experience Lead, you'll craft and execute strategic plans to elevate Makeswift's presence in the front-end developer ecosystem. You will work directly with Makeswift leadership to develop initiatives to grow and nurture our developer community, and have the responsibility of transforming innovative ideas into reality.
You'll manage our docs and create engaging content like tutorials, sample code, and starter kits to educate and support developers. Acting as the 'voice of the developer,' you'll relay feedback to our product and engineering teams, ensuring Makeswift remains developer-friendly.
In this high-impact, high-visibility role, you'll represent Makeswift and BigCommerce at conferences, meetups, and events, where your expertise will resonate with the community. You'll also seek collaboration opportunities within the developer ecosystem to further Makeswift’s developer community goals.
Who you are
An engineer: You have proven experience in the technology industry as an engineer, technical product manager, developer community manager, developer advocate, developer educator, technically-minded entrepreneur, or similar roles
BS/MS in CS, CE, SEW, EE or MIS, or equivalent experience
7+ years experience in building systems using at least two different languages
Strong communicator: You have excellent verbal, written, and presentation-based communication skills. You can communicate complex technical concepts to a diverse audience
Content creator: You have a knack for creating high-quality content in multiple formats, from technical content and tutorials to engaging product videos. An existing following is a big plus
Passionate teacher: Sharing your knowledge with others excites you. You look forward to engage and educate the developer community
Continuous learner: You not only have strong knowledge of development best practices but you have the ability to and seek to learn new languages, frameworks and technologies. You are enthusiastic about staying up-to-date with the latest trends and advancements in web development
Extreme owner: You take initiative in coming up with and executing your own projects to meet a goal. You think outside the box
Lead by example: You’re able to work as an individual contributor, leading your peers by example, as well as a manager, supporting and growing individuals within a team
Nimble: You are open to changing focus and plans when priorities shift in the high-growth environment that is tech
What you'll do
Craft and implement strategic plans that enhance developer awareness of Makeswift
Seek out and maintain meaningful relationships and partnerships with the wider web development community
Create content and resources targeted at web developers like example code or starter kits to fast-track developer engagement and success
Serve as a prominent internal voice for the developer community, gathering feedback and ensuring our platform continuously evolves to be more developer-friendly
Synthesize community feedback, providing clear, actionable insights to product and engineering teams to inform platform enhancements
Represent Makeswift at developer conferences, community meetups, and events, engaging with the audience and delivering messages that resonate with developers
