Design Operations Strategist
As Figma’s design organization continues to scale, we are investing in centralized Design Ops to help our teams work more effectively, stay connected, and maintain a high quality bar. We are looking for a Design Operations Strategist to join our team and support horizontal programs focused on People and Process. This is a growth-oriented role for someone earlier in their Design Ops career who is excited to learn, take ownership of operational programs, and make a visible cultural impact. You will partner closely with the Design Ops Manager and collaborate with designers, design leaders, and cross-functional partners to help the Product Design team operate smoothly at scale.
This is a full-time role that can be held from one of our US hubs or remotely in the United States.
What you'll do at Figma:
Plan, facilitate, and continuously improve recurring team rituals such as onboarding, offboarding, weekly spotlights, monthly syncs, team events, and internal communications
Maintain shared Design Ops resources including documentation, knowledge bases, and templates, ensuring they are accurate, easy to use, and evolve with the team
Partner closely with the Design Ops Manager to support horizontal initiatives such as career growth programs, engagement and retention efforts, and collaboration norms
Help define, pilot, and scale lightweight frameworks and rituals that improve how designers collaborate, share work, and review quality across teams
Support governance and communication around Design Ops programs by clearly sharing updates, gathering feedback, and helping teams adopt new or updated ways of working
Identify opportunities to simplify, standardize, or automate recurring operational work
Collaborate with embedded Design Program Managers as needed to help scale successful localized programs across the broader design organization
Support tooling and procurement workflows for the design team as needed
We’d love to hear from you if you have:
1+ years of experience in DesignOps or Design Program Management, or an ops-minded Product Designer transitioning into DesignOps
Experience supporting cross-team collaboration, recurring rituals, and operational programs for designers
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple work streams, details, and deadlines
Solid understanding of product design workflows, the product development lifecycle, and Figma’s day-to-day use by designers
Excellent written, verbal, and visual communication skills, with strong attention to detail and follow-through
While it’s not required, it’s an added plus if you also have:
Prior experience as a product designer or design-adjacent role
Hands-on experience using more advanced Figma features such as auto layout, components, variables, etc.
Passion for experimenting with automation, AI tools, or no-code workflows to reduce operational overhead
Participation in the broader Design Ops or design community through writing, events, or peer networks
Experience supporting highly visible teams or working closely with senior design leaders
At Figma, one of our values is Grow as you go. We believe in hiring smart, curious people who are excited to learn and develop their skills. If you’re excited about this role but your past experience doesn’t align perfectly with the points outlined in the job description, we encourage you to apply anyways. You may be just the right candidate for this or other roles.
