BASE SALARY FOR US BASED EMPLOYEES: 172,000 - 235,000 USD BASE SALARY FOR CA BASED EMPLOYEES: 218,000 - 240, 000 CAD

Position Overview

Embroker is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Data Management & Analytics Director to lead our data management initiatives. This role is integral to managing and leveraging our proprietary MGA data and third-party carrier Brokerage data. The Data Management & Analytics Director will work closely with our Data Engineering and Pricing & Analytics teams to rebuild and enhance our management and financial reporting data infrastructure. This role will also involve designing comprehensive data documentation and governance processes, ensuring seamless integration of corporate and product changes, and scoping out the integration of new Business Intelligence tools.

Job Duties

  • Lead the overhaul and reconstruction of management and financial reporting data warehouse with stakeholders across the business (Product, Marketing, Insurance, Sales & Operations) to drive consistent reporting and analysis

  • Collaborate with Data Engineering and Pricing & Analytics teams to ensure data accuracy, consistency, and integrity in all reporting tables

  • Develop and implement robust data documentation and governance practices for each data field and all reporting tables

  • Ensure corporate and product changes are effectively integrated into newly designed data structures and reporting tables

  • Scope out and manage the integration of new Business Intelligence tools in collaboration with the Pricing & Analytics team to enhance data reporting and analytics capabilities

  • Monitor and maintain data quality, providing regular audits and ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations

  • Provide strategic data build recommendations based on past, expert insurance data management experience to ensure all departments can make data-driven decisions

  • Act as the primary point of contact for data-related queries and issues, offering expert guidance and solutions

  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the data management function to optimize processes and enhance data utilization

  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Data Science, Information Management, Computer Science, or a related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience

  • 10+ years of proven experience in data management in the insurance industry

  • Experience managing high-performing teams including coaching and development

  • Proven track record of managing and transforming large datasets from diverse sources, including proprietary and third-party data

  • Strong understanding of data engineering, data architecture, and data governance principles

  • Experience with data warehouses, ETL and SQL and related tools (e.g. Snowflake, Stitch, Matillion, dbt, etc.)

  • Experience with Business Intelligence tools and data visualization platforms (e.g., Looker, Tableau, Power BI)

  • Strong project management skills with the ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage multiple projects simultaneously including related tools, e.g. Jira, Monday, Asana

  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with stakeholders at all levels

  • Demonstrated ability to implement and maintain high standards of data quality and integrity

  • Ability to work cross culturally on a global team

  • Prolonged periods of time sitting at a desk and working on a computer

  • Ability to perform at a high-level in a remote work environment
