About the role
As a Data Engineer on the Data team, you will play an important role in building and evolving the data systems that power CitySwift’s platform. You will work closely with senior engineers, software engineers, data scientists, and product teams to design, develop, and maintain scalable, reliable, and high-quality data pipelines and infrastructure. Your contributions will help ensure that the rest of the business can build products and insights on a solid foundation of trusted data. This role is ideal for someone with approximately two years of experience who is eager to deepen their technical expertise, take on more ownership, and learn within a collaborative and mission-driven environment.
Key Responsibilities
Design, build, and maintain data pipelines and workflows that support CitySwift’s analytics, data science, and product features.
Contribute to the development of robust, scalable data architectures and tooling.
Collaborate with data scientists, engineers, and product managers to understand data requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
Support the monitoring, testing, and quality assurance of data pipelines to ensure accuracy, reliability, and performance.
Participate in code reviews and contribute to improving engineering standards and best practices.
Troubleshoot data issues and assist in root-cause analysis and resolution.
Continuously learn and adapt to new technologies, tools, and best practices within the data engineering space.
Key Skills
2 years of professional experience in data engineering or a closely related field.
Experience designing, developing, or maintaining data pipelines, ETL/ELT processes, or data-driven systems.
Solid understanding of data modeling, data warehousing concepts, and data quality principles.
Experience working with cloud-based data platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform).
Strong SQL, experience with SQL/NoSQL databases (MySQL, MongoDB) and cloud warehouses (Snowflake, Redshift, BigQuery)
Proficiency in programming languages such as Python or Java.
Familiarity with modern data technologies (e.g., Spark, Airflow, dbt, Kafka, or similar) is a plus.
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a cross-functional team.
Good communication skills and a willingness to learn, ask questions, and grow within the role.
