Cytogenetics Analyst (FISH) - US Remote

Work schedule: As needed/per diem
Please note: This position is remote with the possibility of work travel once or twice a year. Candidate can be located anywhere in the U. S. and must meet the Work from Home Requirements listed below.
Job Responsibilities
- Perform routine procedures including tissue culture, harvesting, slide making and banding, automated karyotyping, reagent preparation, and FISH processing, probing, and scoping.
- Determine the acceptability of specimens for testing according to established criteria
- Perform routine and complex technical procedures and functions according to departmental Standard Operating Procedures
- Monitor, operate and troubleshoot instrumentation to ensure proper functionality
- Demonstrate the ability to make technical decisions regarding testing and problem solving.
- Prepare, test and evaluate new reagents or controls
- Report accurate and timely test results in order to deliver quality patient care
- Perform and document preventive maintenance and quality control procedures
- Identify and replenish testing bench supplies as necessary
- Assist with processing of specimens when needed
- Maintain a safe work environment and wear appropriate personal protective equipment
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a Chemical or Biological science, Clinical Laboratory Science or Medical Technology
- 1 year or more of clinical laboratory testing experience in cytogenetics/FISH
Preferred Qualifications
- Certified by the National Credentialing Agency (NCA) in Cytogenetics (CLSp-CG)
- ASCP or AMT certification
Additional Job Standards
- In lieu of education requirements listed above, non-traditional degrees with applicable science credits that meet CLIA standards may meet education requirements
- Understanding of laboratory operations as well as policies and procedures
- Experience working in a high volume laboratory environment
- Ability to work independently and within a team environment
- Proficient with computers; Familiarity with laboratory information systems
- High level of attention to detail along with strong communication and organizational skills
- Ability to handle the physical requirements of the position
- Able to pass a standardized color blindness test
- Flexibility to work overtime or other shifts depending on business needs
Work From Home Requirements:
- A dedicated home office space that isn’t shared and meets HIPAA compliance
- Agree to have your home address added to reports of cases you analyze or report. This is a CMS requirement.
- Provide wired internet at a minimum speed of 100 mb/sec is required.
- Ability to work remotely effectively as required in a fast-paced, multi-site environment with demonstrated ability to juggle competing priorities and demands
