Cyber Security Education Program Manager
Job Description
Where and how you can work
Our flagship campus is in Sydney. We also have a campus in Melbourne and co-working spaces in Brisbane, Perth and Adelaide. But you have choice in where and how you work, we trust our Canvanauts to choose the balance that empowers them and their team to achieve their goals. We're open to anywhere in Australia.
About the Team The Security Group is responsible for protecting Canva systems and data from information security threats. Our teams work together, and with other groups, to deliver preventive and detective controls and processes that reduce security risk. The group runs programs across Enterprise Security, Application Security, Risk Management, and Threat Detection and Response domains.
The Security Outreach team lives by the tenets of people-centric security - an understanding that people are at the centre of how risk is defined, prioritised, communicated and controlled. Our mission is to build secure cultures and behaviours across the entire organisation, supporting every team in how they engage with cyber security.
About the Role
This is a cross between a security educator and a program manager role. We don't take a compliance-first approach; we take a people-first one.
At the core of this role, you'll lead ad-hoc consulting and education engagements with business teams – embedding directly into their world, understanding how they work, identifying where security risk lives, and making practical, culturally sensitive recommendations to address it. Think of it as being a trusted security partner to teams who don't speak security natively.
Alongside this, you'll own and shape our Security Champions program – helping expand it beyond its engineering roots to reach the wider organisation, and building community-driven security knowledge at scale.
What you’ll do
Lead ad-hoc security consulting engagements with business teams (e.g. Finance, Marketing, GenAI) to identify risks and implement practical, people-centred solutions
Own, build, and refine the Security Champions program – expanding it beyond engineering into the wider organisation
Design, deliver, and maintain security trainings and education content tailored to different audiences and learning styles
Create and maintain communication formats focused on knowledge sharing – from all-hands presentations to async modules
Build and refine security processes and standards that address the needs of the broader business
Help mManage compliance and onboarding training in partnership with Canva U (our internal Learning & Development team).
Build strong working relationships across Security, Risk, Trust & Safety, and key business partners
What we’re looking for
Strong written and verbal communication skills – able to work with Canvanauts from varied backgrounds, expertise levels, and professional needs
A solid baseline understanding of organisational cyber security risk (e.g. social engineering, insider threat, shadow IT) and appropriate remediation approaches
Experience implementing processes, writing standards, or building guidelines to address security risk systematically
Proven ability to drive projects through other teams with stakeholder buy-in
Experience supporting programs or services to evolve based on feedback and operate effectively over the long term
Someone who can tackle problems with confidence, dive into unknown spaces, and bring others along for the ride
What's in it for you?
Achieving our crazy big goals motivates us to work hard - and we do - but you'll experience lots of moments of magic, connectivity and fun woven throughout life at Canva, too. We also offer a stack of benefits to set you up for every success in and outside of work.
Here's a taste of what's on offer:
Equity packages - we want our success to be yours too
Inclusive parental leave policy that supports all parents & carers
An annual Vibe & Thrive allowance to support your wellbeing, social connection, office setup & more
Flexible leave options that empower you to be a force for good, take time to recharge and supports you personally
Check out lifeatcanva.com for more info.
Other stuff to know
We make hiring decisions based on your experience, skills and passion, as well as how you can enhance Canva and our culture. When you apply, please tell us the pronouns you use and any reasonable adjustments you may need during the interview process.
