As the Crowd Operations Manager within the Crowd Solutions division at Appen, you will lead a pivotal role in overseeing the project setup and qualification operations. Your leadership will guide a team of project managers focused on enhancing user experience, running data analysis for strategic insights, and optimizing project workflows. This senior role demands a deep understanding of Appen's business model, a data-driven mindset for decision-making, and the ability to collaborate effectively with Sales, Solutions, and senior leadership to define the most efficient project workflows and qualification criteria.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Team Leadership and Management: Oversee a team of project managers, setting clear goals and expectations, providing mentorship, and fostering professional growth. 

  • Strategic Data Analysis: Analyse historical data and use cases to offer strategic advice on refining qualification steps and optimizing project workflows for efficiency and effectiveness. 

  • User Experience Oversight: Manage end-to-end testing of user experiences, identify challenges, and implement improvements to enhance contributor engagement and satisfaction. 

  • Collaboration with Sales and Solutions: Work closely with Sales and Solutions teams to determine the best project workflows and qualification assessments for specific domain expertise. 

  • Senior Leadership Engagement: Engage with Appen’s senior leadership, providing insights, updates, and strategic recommendations to drive the company’s objectives forward. 

Requirements:

  • Proven Leadership: Demonstrated experience in managing teams, with a strong focus on data-driven decision-making and operational optimization. 

  • Strategic Analytical Skills: A robust analytical skill set, with the ability to harness data for strategic insights and recommendations. 

  • Deep Business Acumen: Comprehensive understanding of Appen’s business environment, with expertise in the freelance and crowd-sourcing economy. 

  • Effective Collaborator: Exceptional ability to work with cross-functional teams, including Sales, Solutions, and senior leadership, to align strategies and achieve business goals. 

  • Strong Communication: Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to standardize processes and engage effectively with all levels of the organization. 

  • Background in Data Analysis: Experience in data analysis or a related field, with a keen eye for identifying trends, challenges, and opportunities for improvement.
