Legal Counsel - USA - Remote - Hub Level 4 (Counsel)
HubSpot is looking for an experienced commercial and privacy lawyer to provide a key commercial leadership and support role on the HubSpot Commercial Legal Team. You will report in to our Director of Commercial Legal, based in London, UK. Your role will primarily support our Customer Success Teams who support and manage HubSpot customers located in North America.
In this role you will:
Be a proactive and adaptable legal partner who can quickly grasp complex global legal and contractual issues impacting our customers, providing commercial, pragmatic, and scalable legal guidance to your business stakeholders.
Support our teams and customers in navigating rapidly evolving AI governance and global privacy challenges, helping HubSpot and our customers operate responsibly in an AI-driven world.
Serve as first-line legal support for our Global Customer Success teams, handling customer disputes, privacy and security queries, compliance assessments, and contract renewals. Collaborate with the wider CS Legal Support team to share workload and provide global coverage.
Deliver customer-centric solutions to complex legal questions with a particular focus on AI, Privacy, and emerging regulatory trends affecting SaaS and AI companies.
Help develop and scale enablement materials, processes and playbooks to empower our Customer Success teams to self-solve common legal questions.
Manage complex customer contract negotiations.
Manage and resolve customer disputes and litigation, working cross-functionally to mitigate risk and protect the company’s interests.
Work cross functionally with other legal teams to help deliver sound legal advice and solutions to our customer-facing teams.
We are looking for people who:
Are qualified to practice law in the US.
Have at least 2-4 years of legal experience, ideally within the technology, SaaS, or AI sectors.
Bring experience either working in-house at a global technology company or advising such companies in private practice.
Possess deep knowledge and interest in AI and the legal challenges impacting AI service providers.
Have advanced knowledge of privacy and data protection laws (including GDPR, CCPA/CPRA, and other global regimes) and their intersection with AI and SaaS operations.
Have demonstrated experience in:
Complex dispute resolution and litigation strategy and management
Negotiation, drafting, and review of commercial contracts
Advising business stakeholders on high-stakes, nuanced legal questions
Are comfortable managing global legal inquiries and tailoring advice across jurisdictions.
Thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, with a strong ability to prioritize and execute high volume tasks effectively.

Build trusted, collaborative relationships with team members and business partners.
Communicate clearly and effectively — particularly through email, Slack, and Zoom — translating legal complexity into actionable guidance.

Pay & Benefits
The cash compensation below includes base salary, on-target commission for employees in eligible roles, and annual bonus targets under HubSpot’s bonus plan for eligible roles. In addition to cash compensation, some roles are eligible to participate in HubSpot’s equity plan to receive restricted stock units (RSUs). Some roles may also be eligible for overtime pay. Individual compensation packages are tailored to your skills, experience, qualifications, and other job-related reasons.
