This is a remote position and we're considering candidates in the United Kingdom only.

Our Community

We were born from Open Source and it’s in our founding and company DNA.  Our job in developer advocacy is just that - to advocate for this community, and nurture the people within it.  We operate in a “Big Tent” environment, so our community overlaps heavily with many other related open source communities, such as OpenTelemetry, Prometheus, and Kubernetes.

When they succeed, Grafana does as well.  We believe that a big, vibrant, participatory community is how the most innovation happens, and how we grow.

What we are looking for:

We are looking for an enthusiastic Community Manager to join our Developer Relations (DevRel) team, with a focus on supporting the Grafana Champions program. This role will be the critical support behind the Champion program’s operation—ensuring our community thrives, contributions are recognized, and new advocates emerge. This role is central to nurturing growth within the program and the wider community, identifying and fostering advocacy.

You'll work with an all-remote team of advocates and community people.  This blog post describes a lot of what you will be working on.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Foster Advocacy: Help identify and cultivate advocates both inside and outside the Champions program, encouraging contributions from across the Grafana community. Focus on growing advocacy efforts and guiding potential champions.

  • Champion Engagement & Recognition: Build relationships with existing Champions, listening to their feedback, keeping them engaged, and ensuring they feel valued. Assist in recognizing and celebrating their contributions through rewards and visibility.

  • Insights and Optimization: Gather community data and feedback to suggest improvements to the Champions program, refining the experience for current and future Champions. Ensure feedback reaches the appropriate internal channels.

  • Collaboration Across Teams: Work closely with DevRel, product teams, and other internal groups to ensure Champions and advocates have the tools and resources they need to succeed.

  • Community Outreach & Growth: Engage across various community channels, forums, and events to identify new advocates and rising voices. Encourage members outside the program to contribute, and identify opportunities for growth and involvement in related initiatives.

Success in this role is measured by community growth and engagement. In a few months, you’ll have the shape of our community and other allied communities.  A few months later, you will have worked on several programs in front of our community, and you will be a key point of contact for members.

Must-Haves:

  • 2+ years in community management, program management, or a related field, preferably in a technical or developer-focused environment.

  • Strong organizational skills with an ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and experience in facilitating community discussions.

  • Familiarity with Developer Relations and open-source ecosystems.

  • Experience with community platforms like Discourse, Slack, GitHub, and related tools.

'Nice to have' skills that are not required but that we can help you build

  • Experience working with developer communities or in a technical environment.

  • Familiarity with Grafana or other open-source monitoring tools.

In the United Kingdom, the Base compensation range for this role is GBP 66,738 - GBP 80,086.  Actual compensation may vary based on level, experience, and skillset as assessed in the interview process. Benefits include equity, bonus (if applicable) and other benefits listed here. Compensation ranges are country-specific. If you are applying for this role from a different location than listed above, your recruiter will discuss your specific market’s defined pay range & benefits at the beginning of the process.
