Role Overview:
The Chief Financial Officer, CFO, will be a senior member of the executive management team, dual reporting directly to the Board of Directors and the CEO. This individual willbe responsible for the finance, accounting, treasury, pricing, tax, contracting, and risk management functions. They will have full financial responsibility for the organization, managing lender relationships and serve in a support capacity for corporate development activities. A successful candidate will have a proven track record as a successful finance & accounting executive, cross-industry experience, extensive financial modeling capabilities, and a desire to take a hands-on approach to leadership.
Primary responsibilities will include:
Partnering closely with the CEO, the Chief Financial Officer will develop and implement a financial and operational strategy. This strategy will include measurable goals to drive profit improvement and enhanced systems and controls, maximizing the value of the enterprise. Additional responsibilities include::
Developing and leading high performance accounting, finance and other functional teams within the company
Effectively managing cash flow and expenses, including developing a reliable cash flow projection process and reporting mechanism. Creating cost controls and lead savings initiatives
Leading the company’s financial planning and analysis, leveraging knowledge of financial reports to identify opportunities to establish and achieve financial targets
Leading an annual, disciplined, budget process by establishing schedules, collecting, analyzing, and consolidating financial data, in addition to providing guidance and support to contributing departments and providing quarterly forecast updates
Exercising and instilling a culture of accountability with decisions driven by data, KPI’s and ROIs
Providing timely and accurate financial reporting analysis of monthly and annual budgets, financial reports and financial trends with full variance analysis
Guiding financial decisions and ensure that best practices are utilized in the finance & accounting functions by establishing, documenting, monitoring and enforcing policies and procedures
Performing risk management by analyzing the organization’s liabilities, risks, insurance programs and investments
Leading and managing the company’s banking/lending relationships
Driving development of data analytics tools to support business measurement and performance
Protecting the company’s assets by establishing, monitoring, and enforcing internal controls
Evaluating strategic alliances, acquisitions, mergers, lead due diligence efforts and, if applicable, taking a lead role in integrating acquisitions
Routinely interacting with the CEO, ownership and the Board and lead the preparation of presentations and reports for monthly and quarterly meetings
Managing tax reporting and compliance
Ideal candidates will possess the following:
Minimum 8-10 years of financial/operational business experience ideally with time spent in investment banking, private equity or big 4 accounting. Experience could also include a combination of public accounting and private/public company controller/VP Finance/CFO positions with meaningful experience (5+ years) in a leadership role
Substantial and successful experience in the following areas:
Annual budgeting and long-term financial projections
Weekly cash flow forecasting and variance analysis
Implementation of and ongoing management of credit facilities & lender relationships
Identification, development and monitoring of KPI’s
Monthly, quarterly and annual internal and external financial reporting
Financial planning, analysis and measurement
Previous work with companies that have multisite operations with annual revenues of at least $50 million is preferable
Direct and indirect supervision of sizable organizations
Substantive experience in general ledger and financial accounting as well as functions of accounts receivable, credit and collections, accounts payable, customer invoicing and financial reporting
A high degree of expertise in Excel modeling, familiarity with databases and data warehouses and other common business software
Sound judgment and ability to think strategically, define opportunities and problems, interpret data and create and implement value-added solutions. Take a disciplined and data-based approach to making management decisions about business and people matters
Effective in building strong relationships and has demonstrated an ability to attract and retain top talent
A total team player, but a confident leader, adept at fitting into the organization and gaining the cooperation and respect of employees at all levels
Bachelors degree required, ideally in Finance, Accounting or relevant quantitative field of study.MBA preferred
CPA certification is a plus
