Associate Product Manager
The Role
The Associate Product Manager will support the development and iteration of products that make high-quality mental health care more accessible, inclusive, and effective. You will help define and ship features that serve members, clinicians, and employer customers across Modern Health’s digital health platform.
In this early-career role, you will work closely with experienced Product Managers, Design, Engineering, Data, Clinical, Operations, Customer Success, Sales, and Marketing to learn the full product lifecycle—from discovery and problem definition through launch and ongoing optimization. You’ll gain broad exposure to how a health tech company builds safe, evidence-informed, and engaging experiences at scale.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is passionate about mental health, curious about how technology and product thinking can improve outcomes, and eager to grow into a Product Manager role over time.
This position is not eligible to be performed in Hawaii.
What You’ll Do
Support the definition of product problems and opportunities by synthesizing member, clinician, and customer feedback, usage data, and market research into clear problem statements and hypotheses.
Contribute to the creation and refinement of product requirements, user stories, and acceptance criteria, ensuring they are grounded in user needs, business goals, and clinical and regulatory considerations.
Partner with Design and Engineering to support discovery and delivery, including participating in design reviews, grooming and planning sessions, and sprint ceremonies.
Help maintain a prioritized backlog for your product area, making trade-offs between impact, effort, risk, and dependencies with guidance from senior Product Managers.
Analyze product usage data and experiment results (e.g., A/B tests, pilots) to understand behavior, track performance against success metrics, and generate insights that inform next iterations.
Participate in user research activities (e.g., interviews, usability testing, concept tests) and help translate learnings into actionable product improvements.
Assist with cross-functional launch planning for new features and enhancements, working with Marketing, Customer Success, Clinical, and Operations to ensure internal readiness and clear communication.
Create and maintain clear, concise product documentation, such as feature briefs, FAQs, internal enablement materials, and release notes.
Help ensure that experiences are designed with accessibility, privacy, security, and clinical quality in mind, collaborating closely with clinical and compliance partners where needed.
Champion the voice of the user—members, clinicians, and customers—within your product team, advocating for experiences that are inclusive, equitable, and trauma-informed.
Continuously learn about the mental health and digital health landscape, competitive products, and emerging best practices in product management and health tech.
Who You Are
1–3 years of professional experience in product, consulting, business operations, analytics, design, engineering, or a related field; internships and co-op experience in product or tech are a plus.
Demonstrated interest in product management and building digital experiences, ideally with exposure to B2B SaaS, B2C apps, or healthcare/health tech.
Strong analytical skills and comfort working with data to inform decisions; experience with spreadsheets and product analytics tools is required, and familiarity with SQL or similar tools is a plus.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills; you can distill complex ideas into simple, clear explanations tailored to different audiences.
Empathy for people seeking mental health support and for the clinicians and organizations who serve them, with sensitivity to diverse backgrounds, cultures, and lived experiences.
Collaborative teammate who builds strong relationships with cross-functional partners and is comfortable giving and receiving feedback.
Highly organized with strong attention to detail; able to manage multiple tasks, follow through on commitments, and keep projects moving forward in a fast-paced environment.
Comfortable with ambiguity and change; you are curious, resourceful, and motivated to learn, ask questions, and grow your product toolkit.
Bias toward action and ownership; you proactively identify opportunities to improve the product or team processes and take initiative to help address them.
Familiarity with agile software development practices (e.g., sprints, standups, retrospectives) and modern product development tools (e.g., Jira, Figma, product analytics platforms) is helpful but not required.
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience in a relevant field (such as business, engineering, design, psychology, public health, or another related discipline).
