Your Impact
You are joining us to evaluate, optimize, and guide the evolution of Azure environments for our managed services customers. Your day-to-day will involve leading Azure Well-Architected Reviews, identifying architectural risks and modernization opportunities, developing cost optimization recommendations, and translating customer requirements into practical, well-scoped solutions. You will partner with Operations, Engineering, Customer Success, and senior architecture resources to improve the reliability, security, operational maturity, and cost efficiency of customer environments — while helping evolve our architecture practice through automation and AI-enabled capabilities.
We measure success by results and alignment. Here is how we define a 'win' for this role over your first year:
After 90 Days
• The Foundation — You have developed a strong understanding of our managed services environments, architecture review methodologies, Azure Well-Architected Framework, and the technical and operational challenges faced by our customers.
• The Advisory Partnership — You have established productive working relationships with Operations, Engineering, Customer Success, and senior architects, and are confidently participating in technical discussions with internal teams and customer stakeholders.
• The Contribution — You have completed your initial architecture assessments or Well-Architected Reviews, delivered actionable findings and recommendations, and developed scoped solution approaches with clear assumptions, risks, dependencies, and effort estimates.
After 1 Year
• Your Impact — You have delivered high-quality architecture assessments that identify meaningful improvements in reliability, security, operational excellence, performance, and cost efficiency across managed customer environments.
• Your Growth — You have strengthened your architectural judgment, independently leading customer-facing architecture discussions, evaluating technical tradeoffs, and developing practical solution recommendations while recognizing when senior architecture involvement is needed.
• Your Influence — You have contributed to reusable architecture standards, assessment templates, and governance practices, while helping define and validate automation and AI-enabled workflows that improve the consistency, quality, and scalability of architecture assessments.
The Skill MatrixRequired Skills (The Non-Negotiables)
• Years of Experience — 5+ years of experience in infrastructure, cloud engineering, consulting, managed services, or related technical roles, including 3+ years of hands-on Azure experience.
• Role-Specific Mastery — Strong understanding of Azure infrastructure and platform services, including Azure Virtual Machines, Azure Networking, Azure Storage, Microsoft Entra ID, Azure Backup, Azure Monitor, Azure Policy, and Azure Cost Management. Familiarity with the Microsoft Azure Well-Architected Framework and experience participating in architecture reviews, design reviews, technical governance, or customer-facing architecture engagements.
• Architecture & Solution Planning — Demonstrated ability to translate technical and business requirements into practical Azure-based solutions, evaluate architectural risks and tradeoffs, and develop solution recommendations, implementation approaches, scope definitions, assumptions, dependencies, and effort estimates for infrastructure and cloud initiatives.
• Cost Optimization & Operational Excellence — Experience evaluating cloud environments and identifying opportunities to improve cost efficiency, operational maturity, reliability, and performance. Ability to develop actionable recommendations that balance cost optimization with customer requirements, resiliency, security, and operational supportability.
• Communication — Strong written communication, presentation, and documentation skills, with the ability to lead technical discussions and explain architectural recommendations and tradeoffs to customer stakeholders and both technical and non-technical teams.
• Collaboration & Problem Solving — Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively across Operations, Engineering, Customer Success, and architecture teams. Sound judgment to identify when initiatives exceed managed services scope and require consulting or senior architecture involvement.
Nice to Have (The Bonus Points)
• Certifications — Microsoft Azure Administrator (AZ-104), Azure Solutions Architect (AZ-305), FinOps Certified Practitioner, or equivalent relevant certifications and experience.
• Managed Services & Governance — Experience supporting managed services customers, participating in architecture review boards, or contributing to technical governance programs.
• Automation & Infrastructure as Code — Experience with PowerShell, Azure CLI, Bicep, Terraform, or similar automation technologies, along with the ability to document repeatable processes and workflows.
• AI Enablement — Exposure to Microsoft Copilot Studio, Azure AI Foundry, Azure OpenAI, or other AI-driven automation platforms, particularly in the context of assessment, reporting, optimization, and governance workflows.
• Process Improvement — Experience developing reusable assessment templates, technical standards, decision criteria, and documentation that improve delivery consistency and quality.
