What you will do

At PennBarry, a division of Johnson Controls, we offer a wide variety of commercial ventilators and blowers for the commercial construction industry. We support our customers that deliver air moving equipment that are at the heartbeat of HVAC systems in commercial buildings around the globe.

You will provide assistance to customers by providing product knowledge, pricing assistance and overall customer satisfaction. You will be responsible for supporting the indirect sales channel representatives of PennBarry. This will include technical support and training for the customers on the fundamentals of fans and how they operate.

How you will do it:

  • Communicate with potential and existing customers to define specific needs required for product compatibility, and coordinate these requirements with other departments within the organization.

  • Responsibility with customer purchase order execution, internal pricing clarification, customer change order write-up and pricing, order write-up for order entry, clarification with engineering for construction, addressing of customer concerns during fabrication, arranging for special freight and resolving of disputes regarding quality and/or incorrect invoicing of orders, while exercising discretion and independent judgment with respect to matters of significance.

  • Lead continuous improvement and special project initiatives to simplify work for Application Engineering team to increase special quote accuracy and to reduce turn-around time in customer interactions.

  • Lead AE team collaboration with Engineering, Product Management, Operations, and Sales teams to enhance cross departmental communication to reduce errors on special construction quotes and orders.

  • Lead, train, coach the AE team in field product troubleshooting to exceed our customer’s expectations.

  • Coach and develop Application Engineers for their future with the company. Provide opportunities for them to collaborate with other departments and to assist with special projects.

  • Train and educate customers on our product offering both formally and informally.

  • Assist in identifying alternative product solutions when standard product offering does not meet the basis of design specifications. 

  • Assist with competitive product research that will be used to help create definitions for new product development projects including competitive price analysis, competitive performance analysis, feature and accessory analysis, and overview of strengths and weaknesses compared to competitors.

  • Review drawings, plans, schedules, engineering specifications and other customer documents to develop and prepare cost estimates and provide submittal drawings.

  • Other duties as assigned.

What we look for:

Required

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or related field of study

  • Minimum 1-2 years of experience working directly with customers on needs, and providing information back to Product Management.

  • Strong technical aptitude and presentation skills

  • Able to research competitor information and analysis

Preferred

  • HVAC industry experience

  • Rotating Equipment experience

  • BSME degree

  • Experience with AutoCad or Solidworks
