The Games Player Experiences Team is responsible for the platform UI across all devices where Netflix is available. This includes both discovery experiences and in-game platform functionality. We are passionate about bringing new kinds of ✨joy✨ to hundreds of millions of Netflix members, whether they're on the move or relaxing with loved ones.

Position Overview

We are seeking a Senior Android Engineer to innovate and build the next generation of social experiences within our games platform UI. This is a high-impact role that aims to deliver engaging and interactive social features to Netflix subscribers across multiple devices, such as friends, multiplayer, and more. Our responsibilities include implementing large-scale A/B tests for features ranging from highly visible social interactions to core infrastructure that enables current and future innovations. We are committed to UI performance, quality, and accessibility in Netflix Games experiences. To bring these engaging experiences to life, we collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including product management, experience design, and games studios.

  • Deep understanding of the Android development landscape, capable of introducing new paradigms and practices.

  • Exceptional coding skills, especially with Kotlin and Java, and proficiency in navigating different languages and technology stacks (e.g., Node.js, GraphQL).

  • Passionate about the quality and performance of the product delivered.

What You Will Do

  • Collaborate cross-functionally with product, design, and engineering partners to define project roadmaps and build delightful, accessible social user experiences.

  • Architect maintainable, performant Android client code with effective documentation for use by Android developers on other teams.

  • Drive consistency and simplicity of client code to accelerate A/B experimentation velocity and maintain high product quality.

  • Develop experimentation-driven social features, core UI infrastructure, and design patterns to integrate with platform frameworks (Jetpack Compose, Android UI Toolkit, etc.).

  • Architect code for testability and write automated tests with Espresso and JUnit to uphold product quality in a high commit volume code base.

  • Stay informed on cutting-edge Android technologies and software engineering practices, modernizing the code base to accelerate innovation while maintaining high product quality.
