About the team:
After our huge success with handwriting recognition in multiple languages, we are accelerating the research and development of cutting-edge features leveraging AI to create the best learning and note-taking platform. You will be part of the cross-functional engineering team, turning state-of-the-art research into a real product impacting the lives of millions of users. We are a very international team, with your future coworkers being based in 5 different countries across Europe and Asia. However, due to the asynchronous nature of working that GoodNotes has adopted, any time difference will not impact your work-life balance. During the natural overlap of hours within the team, you will have daily standups to coordinate between designers, ML and software engineers, QAs to review any blockers.

The AI team at Goodnotes is on a mission to transform education and productivity by leveraging cutting-edge technologies. We focus on enhancing the learning and teaching experiences of students and teachers through the development of innovative tools such as AI tutors and Classroom AI. Additionally, we are pioneers in foundational technologies like subject-oriented handwriting recognition.
As a member of our geographically diverse team, spanning Europe and Asia, you will play a key role in developing AI capabilities within Goodnotes. You will collaborate extensively with Machine Learning Engineers, iOS Engineers, Backend Engineers, Product Managers, Quality Assurance Specialists, and Designers to develop and enhance our innovative suite of AI features.
About the Role:
As an AI Data Specialist, you will be the teacher of the AI, you will be instrumental in generating high-quality, accurately labeled data using various methodologies to support the training and evaluation of our models. Your role involves rigorous stress-testing of our features and providing essential feedback to help us develop robust and safe AI systems. You will work closely with Machine Learning Engineers to create and refine datasets for model training, evaluation, and ensuring AI safety. Your contributions will be crucial in enhancing our products and services by ensuring the data quality and integrity, as well as thorough evaluation and stress-testing of our models.
This is the role for you, if you’re excited to work on the things listed below:
Utilize proprietary software applications to label data for our models accurately.
Support the delivery of high-quality, curated data to enhance model training and performance.
Conduct thorough stress-tests on our models and features to ensure the delivery of safe and reliable AI systems to our customers.
Over time, engage in prompt engineering for features based on large language models.
Collaborate with ML Engineers to enhance the design and functionality of efficient labeling tools.
Become an expert on our models' behavior, clearly communicating all discovered patterns in evaluation and testing.
The skills you will need to be successful in the above:
A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences - including Literature, Linguistics, Philosophy, Philology, Journalism, or related fields.
Proven experience in a labeling or annotation role within a technology-focused environment.
Proficiency in reading and writing in both informal and professional English (at least C1 level, C2 preferred).
Proficiency in additional languages is beneficial, but not mandatory.
Exceptional attention to detail.
Eager to work in a dynamic, fast-paced, collaborative environment.
Outstanding communication skills, both verbal and written.
