The Countrywide Auto Analytics team is seeking a talented individual contributor to help shape Personal Line (PL) Auto’s profitable growth strategy and lead analytical deep dives into the top opportunities and concerns within our portfolio. By developing well-reasoned strategies and recommendations, this individual will lead aspects of cross-functional working groups, influence senior leadership decisions, and drive in-market changes based on their findings. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of our Auto insurance products, exhibit strong technical and analytical skills, and the ability to convey complex insights to stakeholders effectively.
**This is a ranged posting. Level offered will be based on skills and experience at manager discretion.**
**This role may have in-office requirements depending on candidate location.**
Responsibilities:
Support the establishment and communication of transparent growth and profitability targets for new and in-force business, ensuring alignment with both calendar-year and accident-year objectives.
Lead in-depth analytical studies to compare recent performance against business objectives, offering actionable recommendations for product and process improvements.
Leverage strong technical skills to identify data attributes needed to complete work and the ability to compile them from US Retail Market (USRM) data sources, often without being able to rely on existing datasets. As needed, develop and validate innovative metrics to explain results in clear and actionable ways.
Develop techniques to identify business deterioration and/or adverse selection and provide recommendations to improve results when performance falls below expectations.
Develop a deep and robust understanding of the Auto Product, Coverages, and Processes to provide expertise and guidance to the organization as needs arise.
Become a subject matter expert, assisting junior analysts and peers across the organization with complex analytical tasks and fostering an environment of collaboration.
Ideal candidate will possess:
Strong experience conducting strategic analysis utilizing multiple actuarial techniques across more than one actuarial function (pricing, reserving, indications).
Passion for strategic problem solving and working in ambiguity on ad hoc projects and questions.
Prior experience working in Personal Lines and/or Auto Lines.
Deep familiarity with tools such as Excel and SQL is preferred. Experience using Snowflake, PowerBI, Python are nice to have.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree required; Master’s degree preferred.
Associateship or Fellowship in the Casualty Actuarial Society (ACAS/FCAS) or in Society of Actuaries (ASA/FSA) designation preferred or comparable education/designation with relevant experience.
Minimum 5-7 years relevant experience required.
Sound knowledge of actuarial techniques and standards, as well as other business operations including financial, underwriting, legal, statistics, claims, sales, etc.
Advanced communication and interpersonal skills and ability to build relationships and interact effectively with others within and outside the organization.
Ability to motivate and mentor peers and motivate and train subordinates.
Advanced computing skills (MS Office Excel, SAS, etc.) with ability to build complex models.
