Glitch Productions is an independent animation studio based in Australia making original, long form animated shows distributed on Youtube. Our channel has over 18 million subscribers, tens of millions of views per episode and is still growing strong. Role Information:
Glitch Productions is looking for a highly creative, technically experienced, and dedicated Freelance 3D Character Modeller to create high-quality, stylised 3D characters for our animated productions. In this role, you'll sculpt and model expressive characters from concept art, creating production-ready assets that are optimised for rigging and animation within our Unreal Engine pipeline. We have a wide variety of artstyles and aesthetics in our shows, offering our team a chance to expand their skills and experiment all the time.
Your duties will include:
Create stylised character models from approved concept art.
Sculpt high-quality characters using ZBrush.
Build clean production-ready topology for rigging.
Model clothing, accessories and character details.
Prepare assets for Maya and Unreal Engine workflows.
Apply revisions based on creative feedback.
Deliver organised production-ready files.
A successful candidate will have:
Advanced sculpting skills with the ability to create high-quality, stylised characters using ZBrush.
Strong box modelling skills for creating character clothing and garments from concept art.
Understand the importance of custom UVs for high res characters to maintain fidelity for closeups, and maintain efficiency for distance shots. Balancing this for overall render time cost savings in Unreal.
Proven experience creating clean, animation-ready topology through efficient retopology of character faces, bodies and clothing.
Strong understanding of character modelling workflows for assets intended for rigging in Maya and use in Unreal Engine.
Proficiency in Maya or Blender.
Ability to accurately interpret concept art and translate it into high-quality 3D character models.
Strong understanding of anatomy, proportions, form and silhouette for stylised characters.
Ability to work efficiently while maintaining a high standard of quality and meeting production deadlines.
Strong communication skills and the ability to respond to creative and technical feedback.
Bonus Skills:
Experience working with Unreal Engine 5.
Experience creating character textures using Substance Painter or similar software.
Experience working on stylised animated productions or games.
Experience creating groom for characters via hair cards,3d topology, or simulated groom.
