The number of conversations Empower facilitated grew by over 10x between the 2016 and 2018 election cycles, grew by 10x again in the 2020 election cycle, and then grew by 30x for the 2024 election cycle. In order to keep up that pace going forward, we need to grow our team and keep adding features that help our organizations!
About the Program and Role
In 2026 well be running paid relational organizing programs programs where we recruit folks to talk to their family and friends about elections and issues and then pay them for their time and effort in several states including Iowa, Michigan, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin.
Job Description As a member of the Data team, the Data Manager will work closely with Empower Project leadership, the Organizing Team, and the Digital Team to recruit thousands of Community Mobilizers for paid relational organizing programs in 2026. The Data Manager will be encouraged to offer input into program design. This position is an opportunity to play a key role on a groundbreaking program that aims to scale to many states in 2026.
Core Responsibilities:
Assisting with data projects, program operations, and analytics engineering projects
Collaborating with team members, other departments, and external partners as needed to ensure data projects are completed effectively and efficiently
Cleaning data, maintaining reports and dashboards for internal and external stakeholders to track key metrics
Support Empower Project leadership in monitoring and identifying trends in the mobilizer recruitment pipeline
Working with voter file data, targets, and research to help drive program growth at the top and bottom of the funnel
Assisting program leadership with other activities as needed
Desired Qualifications:
Python programming experience in a data setting
Comfortable with common data science libraries (Pandas, Polars, etc.)
Comfortable learning about and implementing different platform APIs
Ability to write clean and reusable code for use in a production environment
Experience with data/analytics engineering
Experience using version control systems (Git, etc.) and managing a code repository
Experience querying SQL databases
Experience creating data visualizations (e.g. Tableau, Looker Studio)
Experience with BigQuery and other Google Cloud Platform products
Proficiency using Microsoft Excel to analyze data
Experience working with voter file data
Compensation:
This is a full-time, remote, salaried position, starting on February 16th, 2026 lasting through December 4, 2026.
From February through Labor Day, we will be working Monday - Friday. After Labor Day, the work schedule is six days per week with Saturdays off. Staff will work Sunday - Thursdays 9am - 6pm Eastern. Fridays are a shortened schedule, ending at 5pm Eastern. We will also work the full week before the November election.
The salary for this position is $7,000/month. Because this role has a fixed term, you will be classified as a limited term employee. For this role we offer health insurance and personal time, per our employee handbook.
