Vice President - Security Operations
About the role
D-Wave is seeking an accomplished Vice President of Security Operations to mature and expand its global operational security capabilities. This executive will guide enterprise-wide threat management, incident response, and resilience programs that protect D-Wave’s hybrid cloud, quantum products, and intellectual property. Working closely with Engineering, Product, and Cloud Operations, this role will strengthen the integration of security practices across the software development lifecycle and ensure alignment with corporate risk and compliance objectives.
The ideal candidate brings strategic insight, technical fluency, and a record of evolving security operations in complex, high-growth technology environments.
What you'll do
Mature and expand global Security Operations functions, including threat management, incident response, and resilience.
Advance enterprise visibility and automation through enhanced detection and response capabilities.
Collaborate with engineering, product, and operations teams to embed security across agile and DevSecOps practices.
Strengthen global situational awareness through data-driven metrics, analytics, and threat intelligence.
Align operational activities with enterprise security, privacy, and compliance frameworks.
Build, coach, and empower a high-performing, globally distributed team focused on continuous improvement.
About You
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or related field (Master’s preferred).
Professional certifications such as CISSP, CISM, or equivalent credentials.
15+ years of progressive experience in information security operations, including at least 8 years in leadership roles.
Proven success maturing global security programs and operational resilience.
Broad expertise across enterprise, cloud, and application security domains.
Demonstrated ability to align security initiatives with business priorities and risk posture.
Strategic, pragmatic, and collaborative leadership style.
Exceptional communicator who can translate technical risk into business context.
Operates with integrity, composure, and accountability under pressure.
Dedicated to developing talent and fostering a culture of innovation and excellence.
