Vice President of Engineering
Reports To: Chief Operating Officer (COO) Location: US, Remote Type: Full-Time
Position Summary
The Vice President of Engineering will lead the research and development organization responsible for six enterprise SaaS products within a unified product portfolio. This role is central to driving innovation, accelerating feature delivery, and modernizing the architecture across multiple product lines during a period of high growth and operational transformation.
In a private-equity–backed environment, the VP of Engineering will prioritize product velocity, roadmap execution, engineering efficiency, and technical quality—supporting value creation while enabling rapid scale. This leader will work closely with DevOps, Product, UX, Customer Success, and executive stakeholders to transform customer and market needs into high-impact solutions, with a strong focus on R&D and modern Agile engineering practices.
Key Responsibilities
R&D Leadership & Product Innovation
Lead the engineering strategy and execution for six enterprise software products, largely SaaS based
Partner with Product Management to continuously refine R&D priorities, technical requirements, and technical execution at high velocity via an agile framework augmented by project-based 3rd party talent
Drive architectural modernization across products via the retirement of technical debt (e.g., automation, modularization, API-first, Cloud-native approaches) to support product resiliency, development efficiency and quality
Oversee all software development, quality engineering, and architecture functions, with an emphasis on design quality, code excellence, and rapid iteration
Foster a culture of creativity, experimentation, and continuous learning within the engineering organization
Multi-Product Portfolio Management
Develop engineering plans, resource models, and technical frameworks that support six distinct yet strategically aligned products
Standardize engineering best practices, design patterns, and operating norms across product teams to improve consistency and efficiency
Prioritize shared services, component reuse, and platform-level capabilities to accelerate delivery across the portfolio
Evaluate technical debt and modernization needs within each product, balancing short-term commitments with long-term product health
Execution & Delivery Excellence
Implement robust Agile practices—Scrum, sprint planning, backlog refinement, continuous delivery and cross-team coordination—to improve predictability and roadmap delivery
Establish high-quality SDLC processes including automated testing, CI/CD pipelines, code review practices, and cloud-native deployment/hosting methods
Track and improve key engineering performance metrics such as cycle time, velocity, release frequency, and defect rates
Ensure engineering teams are equipped with the right tools, technologies, and frameworks to deliver quickly and reliably
Team Leadership & Organization Development
Build, develop, and mentor a high-performing engineering team across multiple product groups and disciplines
Empower engineering managers and technical leads with clear accountability for product outcomes, quality, and delivery
Reinforce a culture of transparency, ownership, and technical excellence

Required Qualifications
10+ years of progressive engineering management experience, including 5+ years leading multi-team or multi-product R&D organizations within SaaS companies
Strong experience managing multiple product lines simultaneously, ideally in a mid-market or scaled SaaS environment
Deep knowledge of modern Agile development methodologies, software design patterns, and enterprise product development best practices
Hands-on technical background in cloud-native application development (AWS preferred) and modern software architecture
Proven success driving innovation, feature delivery, and R&D transformation in a high-growth setting
Excellent coaching, leadership, and communication skills—able to inspire teams across different product groups and functional roles
Experience leading globally remote and distributed engineering teams
