About Us:

CALSTART is a mission-driven industry organization focused on transportation decarbonization and clean air for all.

For over 30 years, it’s been CALSTART’s mission to develop, assess, and implement large-scale, zero-emission transportation solutions to mitigate climate change and support economic growth. CALSTART works with businesses, organizations, governments, and communities to create real-life impact toward clean air and equitable access to clean transportation for all. CALSTART provides scientific, technical and policy support for regulatory development and clean technology and infrastructure acceleration.

About The Role

We are seeking a Technical Project Manager I to support our tactical data work and help expand capacity on several high-impact projects. This early-career role is ideal for a motivated individual with strong analytical skills and an interest in clean transportation, data modeling, and project support. The successful candidate will work closely with a team to build tools, conduct data analysis, develop reports, and support collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the development and maintenance tools that will assist in the research and analysis of the ZET market, by supporting data integration, visualization, and ongoing refinement to enhance decision-making across programs.

  • Support the production of flagship research products, such as market reports, by assisting with data analysis, narrative development, and storytelling that communicates the state of the ZET market.

  • Collect, clean, and manage datasets related to vehicle deployments, infrastructure locations, truck pricing, and fleet activity, ensuring data accuracy and usability for modeling, reporting, and program strategy.

  • Conduct analytical modeling to forecast market trends, evaluate policy scenarios, and identify optimal infrastructure siting strategies that support zero-emission truck adoption.

  • Create high-impact knowledge products—such as dashboards, case studies, videos, and two-pagers—that translate data into actionable insights for key audiences, including fleets, policymakers, and clean transportation stakeholders.

  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams, particularly Data and Analytics, Regional Office, and Policy staff, to align data efforts with ongoing regulatory, market, and funding developments impacting the zero-emission truck ecosystem.

  • Provide logistical and analytical support across multiple projects, assisting with tasks such as meeting coordination, data documentation, and presentation preparation to ensure timely and high-quality project execution.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative or analytical field such as Statistics, Economics, Mathematics, Environmental Science, or a related discipline.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).

  • Familiarity with analytical tools or programming languages such as R, SQL, and/or Python.

  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple workstreams concurrently.

  • Demonstrated interest in clean transportation, environmental policy, or sustainable infrastructure.

Desired Qualifications

  • 1 - 3 years of professional experience or internships in data analysis, research, project support, or policy-related roles.

  • Experience with tools such as Tableau, Power BI, ArcGIS, or equivalent platforms

  • Understanding of vehicle electrification, infrastructure planning, or environmental modeling is a plus.

  • Knowledgeable about the commercial vehicle sector, including truck classes, applications, and segmentation.
