Staff Content & Conversational Designer - AI
The Opportunity:
We’re seeking a Staff Content & Conversational Designer, AI to define how language, interaction, and trust shape the future of mental health technology. This is a staff-level role for a content designer ready to establish frameworks, mentor peers, and ensure AI-powered experiences are clear, inclusive, and clinically trustworthy.
You’ll design at the intersection of UX writing, AI conversation design, and product strategy — helping us responsibly harness generative AI to improve access to care, reduce friction, and enhance engagement for millions of patients and providers.
What You’ll Be Doing:
Drive content and conversation design strategy for AI-enabled experiences, ensuring clarity, accessibility, and safety
Partner with Product, Design, Engineering, and Clinical teams to design natural, human-centered AI interactions that balance empathy, trust, and efficiency
Lead prompt design, testing, and iteration to guide model behavior and ensure responsible, high-quality AI outputs alongside clinical experts
Write and refine content across key touchpoints, including conversational flows, onboarding, and care navigation
Shape and evolve content systems, style guidelines, and reusable frameworks to scale consistent experiences across the platform
Audit existing content for inclusivity, clarity, and tone, ensuring outputs align with Grow Therapy’s mission and voice
Mentor other designers, champion inclusive practices, and influence design culture across the organization
Align content design strategy with both business goals and clinical outcomes, showing measurable impact on engagement and trust
You'll Be a Good Fit If:
8–10+ years of experience in content design, UX writing, or conversation design, with a portfolio demonstrating impact across both content systems and AI/conversation design
Proven expertise in UX writing, content strategy, and systems thinking, ideally with experience in AI or healthtech products
Experience designing conversational interfaces or AI-powered experiences (chatbots, LLM-based products, or virtual assistants)
Superior communication and storytelling skills, with sensitivity to tone, inclusivity, and the mental health context
Familiarity with prompt engineering, model training, or AI-generated content quality standards
Track record of collaborating cross-functionally and leading high-impact initiatives in ambiguous, fast-paced environments
In-house product experience required; healthtech or consumer-facing product experience preferred
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience
Portfolio required, showcasing both strategic content work and conversational/AI design samples
Excellent collaboration and mentorship skills
Strong understanding of accessibility and inclusive design principles
Role Details:
Employment Type: Full Time, Exempt
Base Compensation: The base compensation range for this position is
Hybrid Commitment: $200,000 - $250,000 USD annually
Fully Remote Commitment: $167,000 - $208,000 USD annually This role can be hybrid (onsite from our NYC, San Francisco, or Seattle hub location three days per week: Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday) or fully remote. Both arrangements include travel 2–3 times per year (e.g., company and department offsites).
