We are seeking a Sr. Manager, Engineering to lead a cross-functional team of Android, Backend, and iOS engineers to drive daily engagement through our app homescreen and scale core nutrition logging infrastructure. The team focuses on outcomes over outputs, prioritizing work based on MFP’s product vision and strategy using data and experimentation.
About the Team:
The squad has a mix of junior and senior engineers who are passionate about improving the core nutrition customer experiences and building reliable scalable systems to power them. The team recently achieved a major milestone with the successful rollout of a new homescreen experience to new users. This role is an opportunity to build on recent momentum and shape the next phase of learnings and iterations that directly impact how millions of users track and understand their nutrition every day.
Essential Duties:
You’ll lead a talented team to deliver against the squad’s objectives to increase daily engagement for millions of users. Your primary focus is cultivating an environment where engineers thrive and collaborate effectively with product and design to achieve their goals, always with an eye towards balancing discovery-style exploration with strong delivery.
What you’ll be doing:
Partner closely with Product and Design to deliver high-impact features and experiments that enhance the nutrition tracking experience
Balance feature delivery with infrastructure improvements for our core nutrition and exercise logging systems, ensuring scalability and reliability for our growing user base
Take a hands-on approach to delivery management, ensuring the backlog is healthy, maintenance and tech debt work are scheduled, and planned work is shipped at a predictable and timely pace
Own quality of work on the team – champion testing practices, drive continuous reflection, and improve delivery standards
Coach and develop your team, investing in individuals while keeping team health top-of-mind
Qualifications to be successful in this role:
Significant experience leading engineering teams in close partnership with Product and Design, working iteratively with a deep focus on customer outcomes. Successful candidates have typically spent 5+ years in a leadership role
Strong analytical focus and comfort working through tricky A/B testing and data attribution challenges, ideally in mobile apps
Track record of leading consumer-facing development work focused on native iOS and Android apps using Agile principles and Scrum methodologies
Experience developing teams through mentorship and coaching
Knowledge of common patterns and software engineering and best practices: you’ve worked with high-traffic mobile applications and know how to build for scale

The reasonably estimated salary for this role at MyFitnessPal ranges from $200,000 - $240,000. Actual compensation is based on factors such as the candidate’s skills, qualifications, experience, and locale. In addition, MyFitnessPal offers a wide range of comprehensive and inclusive employee benefits for this role including healthcare, parental planning, mental health benefits, annual performance bonus, a 401(k) plan and match, responsible time off, monthly wellness and technology allowances, and others.
