Description

Join Liberty Mutual’s Data Governance team as a Senior Data Governance Analyst and make trusted data the foundation of confident business and financial decisions. In this dynamic role, you will play a critical part in supporting our Data Governance team. You’ll translate technical updates into clear business and finance implications for leaders and Data Stewards; define and track KPIs to drive continuous improvement. You will also assist in administering our Corporate Finance data catalog with Data Stewards—glossary, taxonomy, lineage, and critical data elements—while maturing enterprise data practices and enabling a stewardship model across Finance. You’ll partner to embed and monitor data quality rules, conduct proactive impact assessments, and time implementations that protect the monthly book close process and reporting.

This role calls for strategic thinking, deep collaboration, and comfort navigating ambiguity, and it offers the chance to grow your impact and skills across Liberty’s data community. If you’ve led enterprise change frameworks, know metadata tools like Informatica or Alation, and can align cross-functional stakeholders without formal authority, you’ll thrive here.

Responsibilities: What You’ll Do

  • Lead the enterprise data change management process end-to-end: intake, triage, impact assessment, approvals, communications, implementation coordination, and post-implementation review.

  • Facilitate change request reviews for master and reference data that produce thoughtful, documented impact assessments, including downstream effects.

  • Define and monitor KPIs for data governance and the change process; use insights to drive continuous improvement.

  • Create executive-ready communications that translate technical changes into business and financial implications; publish notices, runbooks, and FAQs.

  • Assist with the enterprise data catalog: taxonomy, business glossary, metadata standards, lineage, critical data elements, stewardship assignments, and catalog workflows. Onboard new domains/datasets and monitor completeness and quality.

  • Define and maintain data standards and policies (access, quality, retention, classification, usage) and drive adherence through governance workflows and reviews.

  • Enable a stewardship model across domains; clarify roles for data owners, stewards, and custodians; develop training and self-service documentation to drive adoption.

  • Partner with Data Engineering and Analytics to implement data quality rules for critical data elements; monitor and report issues, lead root cause analysis, and drive remediation.

  • Manage the governance roadmap and backlog; facilitate working groups; maintain artifacts, decisions, and change records; coordinate across tooling (e.g., data catalog & Jira).

What Success Looks Like:

  • Strong project and stakeholder management with clear alignment and effective cross-functional collaboration.

  • A standardized, widely adopted data change management process governing most material data changes.

  • Fewer finance-impacting incidents and faster, more predictable change cycle times.

  • Clear visibility into upcoming changes, proactive impact assessments, and well-timed implementations that protect month-end close and reporting.

  • High catalog coverage and adoption across Finance domains, with well-defined glossary terms, stewardship, and lineage for critical data elements.

Qualifications

  • Experience in data governance, data management, or analytics, including 3+ years leading data/analytics change management in a complex enterprise.

  • Bachelor’s degree in information systems, Data Management, Finance, Accounting, or a related field (or equivalent experience).

  • Understanding of corporate finance processes and how data changes impact them.

  • Hands-on experience with data catalog, metadata, and lineage tools (e.g., Collibra, Alation, Informatica) for impact analysis and governance workflows.

  • Proven track record operating change management frameworks in an enterprise environment.

  • Excellent communication, facilitation, and stakeholder management skills; able to influence without authority and align cross-functional teams.
