Site Reliability Engineer
Role Description
Site Reliability Engineers play a critical role in Dropbox’s success. Our SRE team drives impact across engineering by optimizing web services and developing Magic Pocket, our in-house multi-exabyte storage system.
The team is made up of hybrid systems and software engineers who take ownership of managing large-scale infrastructure, while continuously improving its reliability and automation. SREs are embedded within our platform organization, working at the intersection of development and operations.
We're looking for engineers who are passionate about building and scaling infrastructure software. You’ll be part of a small, high-impact team helping shape the backbone of Dropbox’s global platform.
Our Engineering Career Framework is viewable by anyone outside the company and describes what’s expected for our engineers at each of our career levels. Check out our blog post on this topic and more here.
Responsibilities
Build scalable infrastructure to manage metadata for hundreds of billions of files, hundreds of petabytes of user data, and millions of concurrent connections
Design systems and processes that enable Dropbox engineers to deploy and manage their software in production
Automate server provisioning to reduce manual effort for networking and data center operations teams - from the moment a server is plugged in, it should fully provision itself into the fleet with no human intervention
Collaborate closely with engineers across teams, bringing a strong voice to the table and co-developing solutions that align with business needs
Reduce risk related to reliability by improving durability, availability, performance, and correctness across systems
On-call work may be necessary occasionally to help address bugs, outages, or other operational issues, with the goal of maintaining a stable and high-quality experience for our customers.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience
5+ years of industry experience in software engineering or infrastructure
Strong foundation in system reliability, including scalability, efficiency, OS, networking, or hardware
Proficient in debugging, automation, algorithms, data structures, and software development
Demonstrated ability to lead technical projects, define milestones, and drive cross-functional collaboration
Skilled at solving complex, ambiguous problems and improving the resilience of large-scale systems
Preferred Qualifications
Experience mentoring junior team members and supporting their professional development
Strong customer focus, with the ability to incorporate stakeholder feedback to deliver high-impact solutions
Proven track record of partnering with leadership to define goals and execute multi-phase project roadmaps
Compensation
Dropbox applies increased tax deductible costs to remuneration earned by certain qualifying employees (to the extent an employee will be involved in the creation of the software as an “author”) for the transfer of copyrights, in accordance with the relevant provisions of the Personal Income Tax Act.
Poland Pay Range
