Senior Technical Program Director
Location: Remote - US Work from Home. Commuting distance to Northern VA preferred. Otherwise must reside in one of the following states: CA, CO, FL, GA, IL, ID, IN, MA, MD, MI, MO, NE, NC, NJ, PA, TN, TX, VA
Role Summary
SuccessKPI is seeking a Senior Technical Program Director to bring discipline, predictability, and transparency to our product delivery ecosystem. This role exists to eliminate misalignment across Product, Engineering, QA, Security, and Platform teams by establishing clear ownership, enforceable processes, and a single source of truth from planning through production.
This is a hands-on, senior individual contributor role with principal-level influence. You will not simply facilitate ceremonies; you will own delivery integrity, hold teams and leaders accountable to commitments, and ensure that quality, security, and stability are never sacrificed for speed.
If you thrive in complex, multi-team environments, are comfortable pushing back with data, and have successfully transformed chaotic delivery systems into predictable, high-trust operating models, this role is for you.
What You’ll Own
Delivery Ownership & Predictability
Own end-to-end delivery execution across multiple engineering teams, ensuring every sprint and release has:
Clear scope
Identified dependencies
Accountable owners
Realistic delivery plans
Establish and publish a weekly delivery scorecard (commit vs. delivered, carryover, blockers, risk).
Reduce delivery variance and last-minute surprises through disciplined planning and scope control.
Cross-Team & Cross-Geo Alignment
Lead Daily Scrums, Sprint Planning, Sprint Reviews, Retrospectives, and a highly effective Scrum of Scrums.
Surface and resolve dependencies across Business Intelligence, Data Engineering, Data Integration, WFM, Real Time, and Platform teams.
Maintain a unified sprint calendar and roadmap view for all stakeholders.
Ensure consistent operating cadence and communication across U.S. and India-based teams.
Process Enforcement (Agile, SDLC & Release Governance)
Define and enforce:
Definition of Ready (DoR)
Definition of Done (DoD)
Sprint Scope Freeze
Controlled hotfix and escalation paths
Ensure releases follow auditable, repeatable paths, including:
Code review
Automated testing
QA sign-off
Product-owned UAT approval
Escalate scope creep, readiness gaps, or delivery risk early, with data
Tooling & Metrics Governance
Own Jira and GitLab governance to ensure tools enforce behavior, not bypass it.
Standardize Jira configurations across teams and implement Jira Versions/Releases for unified deployment tracking.
Champion GitLab adoption, including:
MR approval gates
CI/CD enforcement
Security scanning (SAST, DAST, secret detection)
Deployment governance
Establish and track meaningful delivery metrics, including:
Lead time
Deployment frequency
Change failure rate
Defect leakage
Sprint predictability
DORA metrics
Continuous Improvement & Cultural Change
Conduct value stream mapping to identify bottlenecks, wait time, rework, and opportunity cost.
Maintain a prioritized backlog of delivery improvements.
Facilitate retrospectives and post-mortems that focus on systemic fixes, not blame.
Build a culture where teams can safely say “no” to unrealistic demands and leaders trust the data.
Decision Authority
Has authority to pause releases that do not meet agreed quality, security, or readiness standards.
Has direct access to Engineering, Product, and Executive leadership for escalation when delivery integrity is at risk.
Qualifications
10+ years in software delivery, with 5+ years leading multi-team technical programs.
Proven success implementing and scaling Agile and SDLC discipline across complex environments.
Strong technical fluency in CI/CD, DevOps practices, cloud platforms (e.g., AWS), and modern SaaS architectures.
Hands-on experience with GitLab, GitHub Enterprise, or Azure DevOps at an enterprise level.
Demonstrated ability to influence without authority and hold firm boundaries under pressure.
Experience working with geographically distributed teams (U.S./India strongly preferred).
Familiarity with security and compliance frameworks (SOC2, ISO 27001).
PMP, CSM, SAFe, or similar certifications are a plus.
What Success Looks Like
Sprints run with forecasted scope and minimal carryover.
Releases are predictable, auditable, and repeatable.
QA tests before production — not in it.
Deployment time drops from hours to minutes.
Fewer escalations, higher trust, and measurable delivery improvement.
