Job Description

We’re looking for a Senior Technical Artist to join the CD PROJEKT RED team on The Witcher IV. As a Senior Technical Artist you will be primarily responsible for curating the communication between artists and world designers and contributing to the research and development of our in-house tools. If you're committed to achieving outstanding outcomes, feel at ease collaborating with experts in your field and enjoy taking ownership, let us know. We are also working with bleeding-edge technology, in strict collaboration with Epic Games and the Unreal Engine team, to push further the boundaries of AAA open world games. Daily Responsibilities

  • Researching and integrating new features for an open-world AAA game in Unreal Engine 5.

  • Mentoring, and guiding technical artists, fostering a culture of innovation and excellence.

  • Developing and optimizing solutions to solve project challenges.

  • Ensuring high-quality asset integration while maintaining performance and memory efficiency.

  • Collaborating closely with art directors, engineers, content designers, and artists to achieve the project's creative and technical goals.

  • Identifying and addressing bottlenecks in the production pipelines, ensuring smooth development processes.

  • Contributing to the research and development of in-house tools and automation systems.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in a technical art role within game development.

  • Excellent knowledge of Unreal Engine 5.

  • Excellent shader development skills.

  • Experience in working with 3D content creation software (Blender, Autodesk Maya, Substance Painter).

  • Experience in tool creation and automation using C++ and Python.

  • Proven track record of problem-solving and debugging complex technical challenges.

  • Demonstrated commitment to taking ownership, setting goals, exchanging knowledge and driving initiatives independently.

  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work cross-discipline with artists and engineers.

  • Fluent English (both written and spoken).

Nice to Have (These skills are not required but will make your application stand out.)

  • Solid understanding of GPU workflows (lighting, rendering, compute shaders), especially using Unreal Engine 5.

  • Expertise in real-time scalable VFX (Niagara, EmberGen).

  • Experience in procedural content creation (Houdini, Unreal’s PCG, Geometry Script, or Blender’s Geometry Nodes).

  • Prior experience working on open-world games.

Additional Information

Working mode

  • Preferably hybrid or full-time in-office in our Warsaw office.

  • Possibility of remote from within Europe for selected candidates.
